We barely squeak by a mid-tier Big 12 team with way less talent than Mich. Then play 2 meaningless games against maybe the worst FBS team in the country and grossly overmatched FCS team. Doesn't leave me with any confidence at all. Could get ugly Saturday.

We need 2-3 sustained drives to ensure clock management. Take away their ability to get momentum. Couple those long drives with a long return to set up a short field. Finally, we will need to have 1-2 big play/explosive scoring plays to force them to play catch up.
On defense we will need as close to zero penalties so they cannot extend drives. Coupled with at least one turnover. Lastly, we must tackle very well.
I agree with your demands and will have these things delivered to memorial stadium on Saturday. GBR

I'm optimistically pessimistic so I chose option "nervously unconfident". We looked great the past 2 games, but it was lesser competition. But for the 1st time in forever, we did what we should do. WR-upgrade. QB-improved. OL-jury is still out. ST-No contest. DL-question mark, but improving. Missing Ty and Nash. LB-decent. DB-playing very well IMHO.

I read that in the Cincy game we started to spy Sorsby. Will we do this with BU? I do like to think that we can go man against their receivers and have success. Stack the box against the run and BU. If we can slow up the running game, I think we have a good shot to win. I also think if this game comes down to ST we finally actually acknowledge and coach this phase. OL will have to keep DR upright and get EJ and the RB's some yards. (Duh). I think this is a more "balanced" NU team than we have had in a while. Hoping Butler's experience going against dual threat QB's (Lamar and Allen) will have some wrinkles and schemes to help.

I am not there yet. I am not sure we can stop their running game. What will we look like in the red zone. Can we run the ball. I want to believe...just not there yet.

If we can consistently turn big yardage numbers and long drives into touchdowns, we win. But I'm not confident that we will.

Embedded in those remarks is the notion that our team began the season with a fixed skill set, played three lesser teams, and is now about to play a little bit better of a team, using the same skill set as we had going into the first game, hence we should have little confidence as we field our team against Michigan. That notion is not correct, of course, as the players each in their own skill sets weather the storms of each opponent across that line and learn and develop under the watchful eyes of the coaches (and of us).

Not to mention the coaching staff's ongoing evolution. The players and coaches know what's up, and have been preparing for it. The outcome will depend largely, in my opinion, on a sort of inertia that seems to have come about beginning with that second game. Something happened, and as crappy as Akron was, Nebraska did what it was supposed to do, and that has been rare over the past 15 seasons or so.

I have too many scars from the last 25 years in games like this to believe that we are going to win. Sure we beat CU last year, but I think Michigan is a much better team top to bottom than CU.
I think all most of us have those scars and why we see the 2 'nervous' choices leading the pack. The 2 votes for Very Confident either have a plan to inflect food poisoning on the Michigan team (I always suspected Texas agents poisoning the team food before the 1996 Big 12 CC game)
Sad Jim Carrey GIF

Or they were drunk when they picked very confident. I can see any of the other 3 options occurring and I fear and hope not the very unconfident option of Michigan embarrassing us once again.

I think we get down early. The shock from going against their LOS players vs what it has been over the last few weeks will be something the guys will need to climb out of to win this game. I see them with first drive success just through simple runs.

You might be right but I'm thinking our staff and team prep will at minimum force Michigan into passing the ball, or at least being creative in the run game, from the start. I think we will have a lot of 8 man boxes from the first snap. Force the rookie to beat us with his arm.
