Nebraska Coach Search - 2025 version

I feel like we're f u cked no matter what we do. If we keep Rhule, massive changes need to be made. We need better position coaches, especially at OL. We also need to invest heavily in NIL. If we fire Rhule, we would be just 1 of many schools to fire their coach this season. There will be many openings more attractive than Nebraska.

I think we are in a bad spot…..waiting.

I think Rhule is gonzo, but he’s not going to say anything until after he loses to Iowa.

I don’t know how crooked the game is, I’m sure very, but ole Troy should be actively pursuing in my opinion.

I’d imagine that Troy knows the score and has a list brewing. At least any AD worth his salt would be doing so.
Unless he feels like Rhule can right the ship and change the trajectory of how the season is going. I don't necessarily believe that but he might and if he does then he has no list.

If Rhule goes to PSU, what do you think of Pat Fitzgerald coming our way. He sure did a lot with less at NW. He seems to be a 'run the damn ball' guy with an emphasis on the OL. Just brainstorming. Seems he'd be a low risk guy. He's not a Hothead, a Mr Rodgers, or the Home Town Son, or the Used Car salesperson.. We need a stable influence and that is what he seemed to be like at NW. He displayed some fire but was more under control than Bo.

Buttttttt then again, I read this and it appears the hazing went on with his full knowledge.

From Wiki:
On July 7, 2023, Fitzgerald was suspended for two weeks by university president Michael H. Schill after an independent investigation conducted by law firm Arent Fox Schiff confirmed allegations made by a player in November 2022 that hazing, including assaults by varsity players, occurred while Fitzgerald was aware and made hand gestures that indicated that freshman players should be physically and sexually assaulted for poor performance. The sexual assaults included acts such as being dry-humped by groups of upperclassmen, being forced to enter team showers through parallel lines of spinning naked teammates to resemble a carwash, and being compelled to perform a center-to-quarterback snapping of a football while naked. The accuser said that he believed that "Everyone would just be looking at each other and be like 'bro, Fitz knows about this,' because you wouldn't take that action otherwise". Investigator Maggie Hickey, who was formerly an Illinois inspector general, stated that the Wildcat players accusations were "largely supported by evidence."<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Fitzgerald#cite_note-19"><span>[</span>18<span>]</span></a> On July 10, 2023, Fitzgerald was fired amid the allegations.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Fitzgerald#cite_note-20"><span>[</span>19<span>]</span></a>

I’ll pass on him because of that tbh.

With a lot of “bigger” schools opening up might not be the best time to go looking for a new one. Of course if Rhule goes to PSU then that “big” one is filled. Kifgin being looked at for UF. Talk of Jimbo coming back to FSU if they fire Norvell.

LSU might open as well.

Wonder if Freeman would ever leave ND or Lanning leave Oregon for another gig…

I can't see either one leaving. But we've been surprised before - Kelly from ND to LSU for example. Riley from OU to USC. Both haven't panned out like most people thought they would.

I can see Kifin going to UF.

Ok I’ll bite since it’s just a fun rumor forum

Guys I’d be fine with:
Campbell (the right move up for him)
Franklin (if he does not end up at FL)
Kiffen
Gruden
Z. Taylor

Second tier guys:
Fitzgerald
Leipold
T. Lupoi Oregon DC
Holgerson for offensive continuity
T. Monken
