Nebraska wins The Battle for NU! What did we learn????

Well, what I am about to say will be attacked as me being a horrible fan, but the truth hurts.
(1) We are NOT a good team. We tend to make any opponent look like a world beater. We play down to the competition all the time and that is definitely coaching. Northwestern is well coached but on paper, we have much more talent yet we still made it a game at home with northwestern having a chance to tie at the end.
(2) DR is overrated. I honestly did not see how he was much better than Stone today or any other QB we played in BIG.
(3) while I do not argue that the refs suck, one can argue that they missed a 200% holding call that won us the game. They did give northwestern a call earlier. So, for those who say the refs hate us, I would argue that refs suck period. They miss calls both ways and we cannot depend on calls to beat or dominate a team. The refs do however favor Ohio state and Michigan. That is a fact.
(4) Lindenmeyer in my opinion is one of our most potent weapons yet for some reason we fail to use him consistently. That is on the coaches. Lindenmeyer has NFL talent and we use him once or twice in a close game.
(5) our special teams are the difference between us being 6-2 and 2-6. In my opinion, coach Ekeler is a winner and his guys reflect that attitude. He has completely changed our special teams from mediocre to respectable. He is a much better coach than Rhule who is a convincing car salesman.

Before the attacks start. I am extremely thrilled that we won and are bowl eligible. Definitely progress. However, our defense and offense are OK at best. Other than EJ who is the BEST PLAYER on this team, the rest does not inspire confidence. And before you start the attacks, think, how many of you can, with a 100% confidence, say that we can beat PSU, Iowa, and USC? We are simply a middle of the pack team. If you don’t believe me, look at what Iowa is doing to PJ Fleck row the boat douch team that dominated us last week. So, is Iowa a rival? No, we actually have to beat them twice in a row to earn the right to call them a rival. Let the hate begin….

Emmet Johnson is special. Best RB we've had in the last 10 years. This isn't an opinion, it's simply fact.
I am concerned if we do not improve OL play, dude might hit the portal. And seeing as he is RB1-3, that will be horrible for NU. lack of talent behind him or coaching at that spot? Simply put, EJ is a DUDE.

Our passing game is a f****** joke. We had 6.4 yards per pass. Terrible.

Yeah, Johnson had 27 carries and was a workhorse. And yeah Raiola led another game-winning drive.

But offensively we’re totally a**.

And to be honest I don’t understand how Northwestern came into this game 5-2. They’re awful.

Haven’t really been this pi**ed after a win in a long time. The way Raiola takes sacks or overthrows deep balls to kill a series is becoming too much to stomach.

I know that I’m clueless as to the behind-the-scenes working of the coaching paradigm for us, but Rhule needs to start leading from the front.

He needs to sit down with both Raiola and Holgorsen this week and let them know that they currently both suck and that we’re going to do something different so that we stop sucking.

What is happening with our scheme? Can’t our coaches see how we consistently struggle when we go empty backfield?

We can’t pass block for s***.

We'd lose this game in the Frost era and Rhule's first two years.

I'd like to see more passes ahead of the 1st down markers on 3rd downs. Don't leave it up to the ref's spotting.

Thankfully, the defense got 2 turnovers because they can't sack a QB to save their lives.

The refs were awful, but that is nothing new.

We won this game because their QB is terrible and because of a kickoff return for a touchdown.

I’m pretty concerned about whether we’ll win any of the next four.

We’ll be favored at kickoff for UCLA and we definitely should win.

But offensively we need to find a way to finish drives and get more points on the board.

Like obviously I’m much happier that we won than having lost the game. But our offense has been really concerning the past two contests.

Our red zone offense is really bad. DR is slow and many of the plays are slow developing. If EJ was not as shifty and talented, most drives would end before the 50 yard line. Passing game is struggling. Lindenmeyer is open yet we target him 1-2 times. The one time we targeted him today gave us 8 yards. The long passing game is not representative of a 5-star QB. Our quality win is against cincy. However, if we played them now, they would demolish us. I am glad we’re not playing Indiana or Cignetti will wipe the field with Rhule.

You’re kind of phrasing that in a negative spin, though. If anything it just shows he should be used more.

Probably should have been leaned on way more against Minnesota instead of just standing back deep and taking nine sacks.
