Nebraska wins The Battle for NU! What did we learn????

Solid track record here of being anything but "run the damn ball" guy.

But given our struggles in the passing game the past two games, I'd love to come out against USC with a lead blocker and just feed the ball to Emmett over and over until they stop it.

I see no reason currently to get us into spots where we're calling deep drop back pass plays on 1st down.

As I get to know Holgorsen's style more, I do think he's huge on believing he needs to call a play situationally that the other team isn't expecting. I don't think that's going all that well.
As a self professed "run the damn ball guy", welcome to the family my friend!! Seriously, I just want to do what works (as long as running is part of it;). And right now the scripted plays work and adjustments are made and then they don't. I'd love a 2 back set. Maybe Lindenmeyer as lead blocker or used like an actual H-back. I laughed when the announcers said about Dylan running the RPO...BUT, I have said the past 2 weeks, put that in paper. I think he's "fast" enough to run it. No DE is ever taking him. Do it a few times and DC's will be forced to have DE's play honest for once.

Dylan is already 7 yards back, why do a 3-5 step drop? Like Adam Ant said "Stand and Deliver" (any time I can throw out an Adam and the Ants ref I will. Which until now was never :ROFLMAO: ). Just read and rip. Get some of the D to stop crashing the LOS so fast. I still think Dylan would be great rolling out and throwing on the move. Buys him time before he's forced to scramble.

Just me being wishful. EJ looked something like AA out there making plays. Dude is tough for sure. A good OC could build a great ground game around him.

People are complaining about so many things. I think they need to take a step back and celebrate the good stuff.

We won against the number 3 team in the B1G. Names don't mean anything... see Indiana. Northwestern is a solid, well coached team, and we should celebrate the win.

Our offense and special teams just put up 28 points against a B1G team that pitched a shutout last week and has held most teams to a lower point total.

Our offensive line played a much better game against a defense that has been playing fantastic. Huge props imo.

Special teams scored a touchdown... massive impact on how teams will play against us going forward... ie the kickoff out of bounds.

That was likely the worst officiated game I game witnessed in person... and we still won.

Arch wilson is a damn weapon. He played a huge role in the win.

I caught a T shirt for the first time ever lol. Nice to have player/coach seats.

Any critiques I've had in this thread are specifically comments about offensive struggles. It's an anonymous message board; there are no magic internet points for blindly pumping sunshine on a niche forum (that has a very small amount of currently-active posters anyway).

That said, I actually complete agree with you - it's a good take.

I've said for years that Frost lost between 1 - 3 games each season by pretty much entirely personally ignoring the importance of special teams in the B1G. Even just stuff like not being well-coached on fielding punts and average starting field position (let alone the bigger stuff). It was all terrible.

Rhule totally gets it and has put us in a position to where we're crushing it on special teams, and he deserves all of the credit.

And I'd say that Butler is actually punching a tad bit above his weight class from where I thought we'd be given our personnel situation on defense.

For everyone who thinks it’s “just Northwestern”, we are now 8-6 agains them in the B1G. And if you toss out the 49 point win in 2021, the average winning margin in the other 13 games is 6.2 points.

So this year is really no different than a normal game in this series. A one possession game that can go either way.

EJ ran for 250-300 yards considering he had to run 7 yards to get back to the line of scrimmage. At least with an I formation and lead blocker he is moving forward at full speed at the handoff point.

This is the most resilient Husker team we have seen in a few years. I honestly thought we were dead to rights at halftime and I suspect most of this forum thought so too. Obviously the halftime speeches must have worked.

I still find it extremely upsetting how much trouble this defense has getting off the field. That 15 play, 9 minute drive in the second quarter was excruciating, made doubly so after we fumbled on our next possession because we had 2-3 shots at takeaways there. It all felt so utterly predictable and familiar.

I can't tell you how absolutely giddy that kickoff return made me feel.

The officiating in this league just seems to get worse and worse and worse. I'm done trying to guess what the outcomes are. In general I think we are seeing an absolute epidemic of really questionable officiating across all leagues and sports, and I have a pretty good theory as to why *cough*LEGALSPORTSBETTING*coughcough*
