There is no way to spin this - it’s an absolutely devastating way to start the season.  Losing to a team like Western Illinois means you can forget about even the most modest expectations for this team.  .500 season?  Forget it.  Dare you hope for maybe even an NIT bid.  Forget it.  Losing this game means NU will be lucky to reach double digits in wins.

NU checked all of their typical boxes.  Missed 4 of 6 free throws in the final minute and gave up 2 treys.

Ridiculous.

Losing a game like this means you stink.  Review the multitude of NU hops seasons that include early season losses (at home) to directional schools like Western Illinois.  You’ll see that it signals Nebraska is a rotten team.  Again.
