New Defensive Cordinator

Husker stuck at kstate

Four-Star Recruit
Just curious to know if anyone had any suggestions to who were to replace cosgrove if he were to be fired today? and if he stays the rest of the season and they replace him during the off-season who would they try to 'WO' to nebraska as d-cordinator?

Can't even know that.

I do know that sometime in this thread, someone will have a bogasm.

I have no idea who could/should take over for Cosgrove if he was let go immediately.
Honestly, I'd hate to see what could happen if he was let go mid season. That's gotta be a death sentence for the defense if there ever was one. While I am getting tired of the defensive performance, I'd be hard pressed to recommend changing a head position like the DC mid year. If it gets much worse, though, I might.

we filled in the OC position from within. I dont see why we couldnt do that on D

Yeah, I agree, I don't like the idea of changing in the middle of the season. Add to that not being able to come up with someone I'd even want to give a shot at it, and to me it means he should be fired at the end of the season. If we get lit up for 600+ another time or two, though, I don't know if it could get much worse and then I'd have to say it wouldn't matter.

I don't think our OC position is the same as the DC position. Cosgrove is responsible for all the schemes, coverages, etc, right? Our OC doesn't really handle those thing, does he? Callahan does I think.

Forgive me for my crudeness, but anyone except f**kin Coz

Dave H has 2 very good points:

Bogasm- totally unnecesary talk

We are still 3-1, trying to win the north and so Coz gives us the best chance to win the rest of this season, if we had lost today or if we were 2-4 then the season would be lost and then you could fire him after this performance. As mediocre as we are, letting a coach go (any coach) mid-season means you are giving up and we can't do that to these players who have a lot still to play for.

The best D coordinator choice would be Mike Stoops but he won't come here. My dream scenario is we Fire Coz and Cally then next year we hire a defensive minded head coach like Gary Patterson (TCU) and just make sure we have a good O-Coordinator.

Well, it wouldn't make much sense to replace a guy with the same guy now would it :)

I have no Idea who could take over in the middle of the season. One of our existing coaches would probably take over on an interim basis, but that isn't going to win us many games either.

Following the season I'd love to try and get Bud Foster from VT, but that isn't going to happen. My 2nd choice would be Will Muschamp from Auburn - especially if Tubs gets canned or Charlie Strong from Floridawho may be tired of sharing the DC job with Mattison.

On the short list would be Mike Hankwitz of Wisconsin and Jon Tenuta of Georgia Tech. - Brent Venebles would be great if they bring back Mike Stoops once he's fired and Venebles leaves OU.
