Niles Paul ticketed in downtown Lincoln

I would be more worried about the urinating in public thing...doesn't that mean he just made the sex offender list? just a question
Public urination lands you on the sex offender list? I can't see how one has anything to do with the other.
There is some truth to this. Being a former Criminal Justice major, there is some tendancy towards this. While they may not be a classic sense of a "sexual predator" the fact that he is "exposing himself" in public while urinating, is the thought process. There is some research that shows if someone is willing to "urinate in public" or "expose themselves by streaking or flashing ones parts" that they COULD have "sexual predator" tendencies because they just did it "for fun" but deep down mentally there maybe some "issues there". I laughed first at the thought too, but I guess it kinda makes sense.

Nothing he did deserves a suspension of any kind. These are extremely minor offenses.

He deserves some form of off season punishment but nothing more.
You might be right. I'm just concerned that this is his second brush with the law concerning alcohol, and Bo alleged when he took over a couple of years ago that he'd be tough on stuff like this.

If anything it'll be a suspension against Western Kentucky, which is no loss but will hurt Niles' stats. It's possible that it'll just be handled internally and he won't miss game time, but I'd be surprised if that's all that happens.
No, no, no. Make him play EVERY down. And every pattern either a go, deep post or deep flag.

4th quarter - 3rd and one on the NU 29 yard line. QB (TBD) calls the play "QB sneak on two - except for Niles, he get gets to do a skinny post, and pick up your knees this time" Niles, "gasp, gasp, arrgh, gasp"
This is epic, and may actually work, never thought of something like that. :rollin

I didn't know he was that "young" [im not much older than him so that sounds weird for me to say this] but he needs to get his head on straight and just stay the heck outta trouble. He probably will get a game or two, but I can't stop laughing at the "run a skinny post every time a play is called", that is classic!

I wonder if he did this after they gave him the ticket.

Ha! God I hope so!! Awesome

I say the boot but I'm old fashioned...
For an MIP and Public Urination? meh.
Yeah no kidding. You know how many team members who aren't headliners get MIPs and no one finds out(or cares)?
i remember we had a tight end get caught with DUI twice before he was 21 and once when he had turned 21....and i know someone stated this earlier, but i didn't think anything of public urination until i was about 12 or 13...i thought it was normal to just pee on a tree outside...i guess the country has a more laid back approach

I think if he does get suspended a couple games, we got Kinnie, I think that kid is going to be a beast this year

Drank a few beers and peed on a fence?

Death.

It's the only viable option at this point.
College kid and a beer? Never should happen. I hope all those skybox owners that somehow have a bar in their box take notice. No beer for anyone in the football program. Guys from the Osborne era would have brawls on O St. way worse than this.

I believe its the third time that lands you on the sex offender list. I dont know for sure or anything, but i dont wanna find out.
I really hope this is sarcasm. And urinating in public doesn't mean you're doing it in front of a crowd or any people at all. I don't think it was as if he was trying to show his junk to people, he was drunk, had to piss, and made a bad decision on where to piss. I know many, many people who have gotten drunk and pissed in all kinds of places like kitchen floors, trash cans, closets, beds, other people's beds, grills, boxes, cups, bottles, bedroom corners, bathtubs, sinks, etc. A drunken mind cannot be considered a sober mind. Now, the real problem is he had already got into trouble for something like this, and the he drinks enough again to make a stupid mistake. He's definitely guilty of making bad decisions when he drinks, but a sex offender? I would love to see a case where a drunk guy relieving himself in public has been registered as a sex offender if you can find one. If so, then I will totally recant and offer congrats.

At least in Kansas, the first time you do it you become a sex offender. Thats what happened to my friend.

Wow, a lot of things have changed in a short amount of time. I'm only 35, and I guarantee you public urination didn't land you on the sex offender list 15 years ago when I attented UNL. In high school, we all carried guns in our vehicle as most of us hunted to and from school for nearly 1/3 of the school year. Now, it's an automatic expulsion if you get caught with a gun on school grounds. We used to pull out our pocket knives in between classes and cut off a chunk of our Redman totum to chew during the next class. Now, it's an automatic 5 day suspension if caught with a pocket knife on school grounds. When I was in college, the cops never wrote out MIP's. They absolutely hated the things. The only time MIP's were given was if you were stupid enough to stay at the same party once it had already been busted 3 times before. In order to get a DUI back then, you really had to be a dumba$$. Typically, the cops just took us back to our apartment or dorm and told us to leave the car parked until 8:00 the next morning. Only people like Farley were stupid enough to go back and get the car the same night and drive around therefore leading to his first DUI. When I was in college, football players were sexually assaulting women and never receiving suspension. Now, we're talking about suspending a player for pi$$ing in public?

Minor in Possession......It sounds alot more serious than it really is...Had the long arm of the law been around me while i was in High school or the years following that god only knows what I would still be paying the price for. Yes you are a Nebraska football player and are held to a higher standard but if people think this is a life or death event they are wrong. How many people can honestly say they didnt drink underage?
I can, but that's besides the point. People aren't making this out to be life or death, they're making it out to be possible missed playing time or other punishment that is detrimental to the team. You take that, and you also take him representing the team and the university, and it is no laughing matter, regardless of how common it is.
This Mod lives in a glass house... watch out! Location: Vatican City?

People need to get a life. He wasn't driving. He's going to run stairs and be forced to do extra lifting. The End. He's twenty and he got caught pissing outside. This isn't an Andy Christensen-like event. He pee'd outside. It's hilarious how bent out of shape people get over an ARBITRARY drinking age. You can fight for your country and vote for the prez, but you can't drink alcohol... hmm sounds a little strange. I don't fret over stuff that isn't important. Like this.

Last year, the driving under the influence was a serious offense. This is a "just be smarter" talk from BO to Niles. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think he should have to do bear claws until the skin on his palms burn off and then if he starts to complain he should be locked in a utility closet.
