Gronowski previously faced Albany when he was at SDSU. He went 15/19 for 265 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INTs in that game. So yeah, he got the Ferentz treatment.

Iowa got a lot of help from the officials to stay in the game. Iowa State is double-digits better than Iowa. Their QB is more potent as a running threat than a throwing threat.

Prospectively, they’d need to strike lightning in a bottle to be highly successful ever again. They are a stagnant program with an older stale HC whose last two OC hires are nepotism and currently a prolonged lame duck dud. If I am even semi accurate, they’ll never hire a hot commodity OC and they’ll be lucky to identify a young rising OC in time for Kirk to continue on.

His tenure most likely has more to do with eclipsing Woody Hayes win total (image) and financials (buying out his contract and paying a new coach).

On that note, they are paying Tim Lester $1.3mil this year and Gronowski is “north of seven figures.”

If I were a legit OC candidate, I’d expect signing a significantly higher contract than a mediocre QB.

Absolutely not.

He never was, and he had terrible offenses at WMU if I recall. Kirk doesn't want a lot of offense/going to fast to change the way they play or exposing his defense. They were in the game yesterday until the end, they often are, and bank on squeaking it out.

I only asked bc usually Iowa is solid but when it comes to elevating the program overall his teams fail.
