You can clearly see he grabbed and even still made another swipe or two before hitting the ball. You're snarkiness and yearning to be right to the point that you're pulling the rulebook out is hilarious. That's a facemask to even the definition of the rule you posted.

 
Pretty sure you can't "grasp" something with an open hand.

I know referring to the rule book is a novel concept but it seems useful.

 
You can see his fingers close around the side of the mask or are you just trying to play coy? It's a novel concept that some people can't handle being incorrect. Saban is that you??

If it was really an open hand, don't you think the guys helmet would have stayed where it was as the "open" hand would just slide off the helmet?
