This ain't on NU. Dude is a stud and has been doing it since day 1 in Happy Valley. They let Allard do too much early on, vs playing more to their strengths and running with Allen and Singleton. The record should have been his games ago

People on ALL college football boards get angry whenever Cignetti's name is brought up. And the reason is because you are right. Coaching matters. Indiana could become a powerhouse after being the worst P4/P5 program in history.
I admit, that is yet to happen. Indiana spent a century hiring the wrong people. Then their luck changed. And of course it can easily revert back to what it was.
But the contracts handed out in this day and age are stupid, because they make it increasingly harder to find the right person when you are cash-strapped after over-spending on fool's gold.

Recruits (new or portal) want to play for a winner. Maybe we don't need a CEO, Salesperson - we need some one who just knows how to win. Remove all of the fluff and play hard nose football.

BTW - was this telecast planned to be a PSU promotional film?

100% accurate. With NIL and the portal making it easier for immediate turnarounds, I would rather hire coaches more often if they are not making a difference after year 3 versus locking them into a 5 or 7 yr deal and being stuck and feeling trapped. Cignetti has changed expectations for all fans.

Im not blaming the head coach! You & others seem to forget about other issues out of his control! Lack of NIL funding. Young undersized d line, absolutely no o line development & 2nd string qb. Rhule fired the OC & special teams coaches and has first time big ten coaches. Its called reality!

Except the cat is out of the bag on contracts. There's no going back, coaches will not agree to anything less when another school will give it to them. They might be stupid contracts, but they are just going to get worse.
