And to the dude splittiing hairs about what games counted or not. You're bored.. take up golf my man.
Not sure you realize there's a guy called The Dude posting in this thread. <_<Im pretty much lawn chairing it at this point in the thread.
Lmao @ the dude so caught up with with me being a realist or not. High fives to the other realists in this thread. We will see who is right and who is wrong. I hope you guys are right about this really good defensive line that you're pulling from the sky. I really do.
Correct, but however you look at it, when a running play is blocked as well as Wisconsin did in that game, the safety is the only one with a chance on several of those plays. Placing the blame on the safety play isn't coming directly from me. There are many people around the program that I have heard that from. You can't possibly blame a DT for not stopping a jet sweep. Just being real.I think that it's a common mistake to blame a safety who missed a tackle while on an island. Just because he is the only player in the area with a chance to make a play doesn't mean that he is supposed to be the only player in the area with a chance to make a play.I only watched the first play from the video. I think it was P.J. Smith who missed the tackle, and it's easy to blame that play on that one guy, sure. But what about the 9 guys who bit on the fake and left Smith out there all by himself? These are mostly upperclassmen too, after 5 years of tutelage in the system. I don't think that's a recruiting issue. What I noticed was that Daimion Stafford wasn't the whole problem . . . I don't know that I've ever seen a DL and LB corps be tossed around like that.Carlfence needs to be banned for posting that video.
I'm just recalling a recent post (that I probably can't find) focusing on the terrible safety play. I'm here to say that playing that sort of defense (if you can call it that) requires an entire team.
Yeah good call. Smart phones that dont play nice with forum software make me lazy. Not sure you realize there's a guy called The Dude posting in this thread. <_<Im pretty much lawn chairing it at this point in the thread.

Was it good blocking or terrible DL/LB play? It looked to me like a combination of both.Correct, but however you look at it, when a running play is blocked as well as Wisconsin did in that game, the safety is the only one with a chance on several of those plays. I agree. The weaker schedule will help quite a bit. I still think that they will be exposed by decent competition. My expectations for the defense are that each week they get better. We are going to have to score a lot of points to beat UCLA, but the good news is just about every other team in between them and Michigan we should be able to line up and beat on pure talent alone.
The only D-lineman that was worth a sh#t last year was Randle, and as The Dude pointed out, he was never healthy. I'm not so sure these young guys won't pan out, but where's the depth going to come from. Do you think all these guys are going to stay healthy the entire season? Our D got eaten alive in 4 games last season. There's going to need to be a hell of a lot of improvement to have a chance at winning a conference championship. The biggest thing we have going for us is an easy schedule. Especially since it takes Bo's teams several games to figure out what the hell is going on on the Defensive side of the ball. My definition of competing doesn't mean to lay down and quit. And I saw that last year on defense a couple times. With him being a realist, you would think he would realize these things, but I guess he doesn't understand the definition of what a "realist" is. Being a realist, doesn't mean you always point out the negatives, that is why he is not one. He has no factual information to state that our defensive line is going to be a "pushover", besides previous DL we have had in the past, that was thrown together and COMPLETELY undersized. When your playing a 260lb DE as a DT, especially in the B1G, expect trouble in that spot. Oh, and to add on top of it, we are only year two under our DL Coach, Kaz. A realism takes these things into perspective. I guess we will be less talented and smaller than we were last year, though /sarcasmDid we or did we not play in the B1G championship game? Did we or did we not have the best record out of the postseason eligible teams in the Big 10?
Bo squeezed a lot out of the guys he had, it just wasn't enough and it definitely didn't help when Steinkuhler went down against Iowa.
I was listening to the 2009 Va Tech game on the radio. Greg Sharpe and Matt Davison had me convinced we won that game, so I turned it off.I've missed watching 3 Husker games the past 4 years:
Va Tech '09
Iowa State '09
Big Ten Championship last year
I have to say I pick them pretty well.
