Valid points but I still think we could be getting more production out of what we have.

I also question if the product he is putting on the field is going to attract the type of players we would need to excel in his system.  His system requires very good linemen who excel at pass blocking- not the most desirable thing for o line guys.

I am still stuck on his pass first mentality.  His track record shows he isn't ever going to be a balanced play caller unless forced.  He wants to call 60-70% pass plays and has for the majority of his career.  I don't think that strategy will work in the B1G long-term but I guess we will see.     

I'd have to see the data on that one.  As that goes against everything Rhule wants to do, and Satterfield has been with him for quite a while.

soup, you have got to give Rhule time. He is still playing with a lot of Frost's players. Your criticisms of the program aren't that different from many other blue blood programs in the country. Don't believe me: go look at other message boards. Rhule needs time to get his own players into his system. Hopefully, he will also realize Satterfield and Foley aren't getting it done and go out and splash the cash for top-tier coaches. But until that happens, all we can do is wait. 

Firing Rhule accomplishes nothing! It would just set the program back even more.

I keep seeing that no one expects the 90s anymore.  Yet how many of you can't believe we just lost to Indiana and Illinois. We should have curb stomped Rutgers they suck. Those should have been cake walks.  You're out there.  The football landscape has changed.  

I have no problem losing to Illinois, Indiana, or Purdue. Nothing wrong with a 5-2 record with this schedule. I do have a problem looking like we don't even belong on the same field as those teams.

The thing is that you don't have to wait for coaching changes in the offseason to judge whether or not Rhule can get it done in Lincoln. We have three winnable games left (yes, winnable):

-UCLA

-Wisconsin

-Iowa

Rhule should be able to make some adjustments on offense to put up some points against those three teams.

But most of the talk is about the offense. White needs to get back to creating chaos and being more aggressive in those three games - there is absolutely nothing to lose anyway.

how exactly is our talent very young? It’s a new era in college football and this is now the 2nd season where he and Rhule have completely whiffed on bringing the right guys in from the portal.

last year the excuse was our crap qb room, lack of wideouts and health in rb room. Satt was gifted the top qb recruit in the nation and we’re still putting up 18 points a game in conf play

they went out and got banks and neyor- banks with massive playing experience, they’ve been complete non factors

our rb room is actually very healthy outside of erving. They’ve been a complete disappointment 

our o line is half full of 24 year olds who should be able to lean on lines from a simple maturation standpoint and we still are an embarrassment 

every single position group offensively has been a major disappointment. We ain’t getting a bunch of 5 star blue chippers anytime soon- the body blow run game and development we were promised is nowhere to be found

USC is a 4 loss team - they should be included on the winnable list.  If we play like we did Saturday, we don't win another game obviously but I do agree, we have time to make adjustments to improve.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m just tired of making excuses for satt, we’re putting up the same points per game in conf play we did last year. We were sold a story it was cause of the sad state of our qb and options around him. He’s now got the best qb who will ever step foot on campus and we’re somehow finding more excuses to defend the OCs security.

That’s prolly where we disagree. I put it more 75 coaches 25% players. We don’t have a 56-7 talent discrepancy against Indiana. Both teams came off a bye and it was clear which coaching staff is rowing the boat in the same motion and which staff had 10 different holes they are trying to plug with no answers

And this has been the case since we joined the Big 10.  So 4 coaching staffs all suck?  Maybe, just maybe there is more to the issue than it being just players and/or coaches.

Maybe, it has to do with the unrealistic expectations of all the fans that think the 90s can happen again, and we just need to fire all the coaches until that happens.

I honestly don't know how this logic works. 

Are you saying the issue isn't Nebraska's recent record of substandard football -- a statistically verifiable fact -- it's the fault of fans who would like the team to play better?

What's the realistic expectation? For extra points, tell us some football programs we should be content to emulate.

his baylor tenure is very misleading because he never beat any ranked teams. however he took over a horrible situation and did really good.

but what he did there is nothing like playing against the upper half of the big10. 

we need top 15 recruiting classes and top transfers and eventually we'll be good. talent outweighs coaching at a certain point.

Again, I'm not calling for anyone's head at the moment, just saying that after watching that 56-7 beatdown it's weird how much blame is heaped on Satterfield and how little went to the DC whose defense was unprepared, undisciplined, exposed, and demoralized.

Also, special teams. Which means all three phases of the game, which means the Head Coach has earned a little heat. 

Meanwhile, Curt Cignitti comes into a 3-9 program bringing a roster of Sun Belt players which immediately gives him an advantage in......The Big 10? 

Does that mean we are looking up at teams with a James Madison caliber roster?

How many years in the current college football in your opinion does a coach need to have his players? Be careful what you say because that is a slippery slope to giving bad coaches too long. 
 

Also if we had a bad coach (Frost) but now we have a development coach. Shouldn’t we see massive improvement in those existing players.
