But as you say yourself: It's closer to the NFL than ever before. OCs and DCs are easily replaceable. It's not like a HC change.I honestly can't believe that there are people that are seriously considering firing an OC in year two of a rebuild. I must not be watching the same games as the rest, or maybe I just watch enough other football to realize that Nebraska is not as bad as everyone things. We just don't have a game changer right now on offense. We have two that could very well be game changers in Raiola and Barney. After that, nothing. (and that's two more than we had last year)
Yeah it sucks to lose like this, but for crying out loud. Firing coaches mid season is not the answer, especially in year 2 or 3 or even 4.
Nebraska "fans" are half the problem with the program right now, and until that changes we will be perpetually doomed. And it has nothing to do with raised expectations. It is an understanding that the days of the 70s-00s is long gone. College football is not longer the haves and have nots. It is closer to the NFL now than ever. Where 7-6 teams make it to the playoffs. The more we start to understand that the better everyone's enjoyment of the game will improve.
But, by all means continue to tear down the program you love, and s@#$ing down it's neck.
And their fans want to fire their coach!
Are we overstating how bad Nebraska is right now? Fair, I could see that. Same time, there is a lot to be concerned about. Our only real good win right now is Colorado, and I question if we'd be able to replicate it right now. Rutgers got lucky against Washington and has shown themselves to be mediocre. Purdue is awful. And then you have what UTEP and Northern Iowa?
I don't buy the patience argument anymore. It's a different game now. You need to compete right away. I'm not even saying fire Rhule, I think that would be insane to do. I'm saying he needs to recognize quickly that his coordinator choices are not working and deal with it accordingly.
