PSU - What Did We Learn?

It was pretty ugly.
You’ll thank yourself if you don’t watch it.
No need to watch.

On defense, Penn St ran essentially the same running play that USC did and every pass was a quick screen or play action that went to the open zone about 15 yards out towards the sideline. QB didn’t even have to make a decision, guy was wide open every time. They never even thought about throwing to the middle of the field.

On offense we did everything possible to get the ball to Emmet every play and refused to let TJ pass further than 10 yards downfield. No RPOs m/or plays that indicated we schemed anything up this week. We also stick with pass/run ratio on 2nd down that Dana lives for, I think it was like 17/3 this week.

That this coaching staff sucks, and it all ultimately falls on Rhule. We had a pretty easy schedule this year, and it looks like we'll probably finish 7-5 which isn't great. Next year's schedule is harder, and we'll struggle to break 6 wins unless there are some major changes in the off season.

I fear that Rhule is set in the way he wants the offense and defense to run though, which doesn't seem like a great fit for succeeding in the Big 10. I'm always hopeful, but I don't have a lot of faith in Rhule l, and I think signing him to an extension was a mistake.

Bye weeks are terrible for team prep it appears
We still are a long way from competing against the top 1/4 of the conference
We suck on national TV
Rhule's contract extension came to early
Rhule’s contract extension was a horrible mistake. There were four extensions this season, three proven winners and Rhule who has shown nothing of worth. We always do this. We extend coaches without them showing any relevant accomplishments. We are a get rich scheme for mediocre coaches.

My eyes tells me that we could have lost this game by a lot more than we did. We were so overmatched athletically. And I tip my cap to the guys that put on the uniform and try. Must be a miserable way to live under such scrutiny when your best just isn’t good enough.

I will add a few comments towards a few of these posts. I don't think the Big 10 conference very good. Ohio St has not played anyone this season. They have had the tailer made schedule for making the playoffs. SEC might not be a strong at the top like most years, but they have 4 or 5 teams that could beat anyone including themselves. With the setup and things right now, were battling for players that are not good enough to play at schools like Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Ohio St, ETC. Basically NIL is only good if your team has a chance to make playoff run. Were just playing for a chance to make a better bowl game destination.

The same Bama that got slapped around by Florida State? Same Texas that lost to Ohio State... who "has not played anyone this season"? The top of the Big Ten is as good as the top of the SEC. There are a whole bunch of teams in the middle of each conference that are interchangeable.
