Rebuilding Year For Fans!

Four-Star Recruit
Wow. It looks as if the old group of fans needs to graduate. They're bringing this program down. Not to worry, though . . . the true NU fans are waiting for them to go away, to fade into the woodwork. This program is on the edge of great times!

To the Huskers . . . the team, the coaches, the staff . . . we support you, and we have the patience and confidence to let you do the job!!

GO BIG RED!

Teams like Missouri and Kansas State . . . you almost have to feel sorry for them, because you know that ORDER WILL BE RESTORED, and they will resume their plunge into obscurity. K-State is a fraud, and Missouri had best enjoy it this year . . . it will be their last.

GO BIG RED!!

Were you even alive for the 35 year run!!!!!!!!

That's the true fan, the ones who supported $$$$$$$$$$$$$ this program and helped make it what it is???

I wasn't around for all of it but they gave alot and I guess they expect alot........

Was I around?? YOU BET!! I was actually at the great Game of the Century in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1970, sitting and standing in that cold wind of the Snake Pit. I still remember Kinney's ragged tearaway jersey and Johnny R's amazing punt return! I also remember Tom Osborne's dark days, when everyone was bagging on him, just like they are doing to Callahan today. He nearly went to Colorado out of frustration!

We are darned lucky to have Callahan and crew on board. BC shows amazing restraint and clarity of purpose, despite obstacles.

Continuity, confidence, and fan support is what it is all about, folks! Now, get with the program! I can't believe that you even dare criticize NU for the Missouri game; why, look at how all of you have come apart!

These Huskers WILL overcome adversity. You can use them as your own example; I think that you might learn something valuable!

GO BIG RED

I can still recall as a young boy watching the 1970 &71 teams win the NC. Just think of the husker fans who didnt have a thing to cheer about until a small man with a big heart and bigger dreams came from Wyoming to coach a future juggernaut that would reign for some 40 years. We who have been through the mediocre and trying times at NU before the 90's supremacy can still recall a time when the young men from across the state and possibly the nation look towards a man who many thought of as a surrogate father of sorts. Many of the naysayers at the time did not believe and the man was chastised as an underachiever. Not one molded in greatness as his predecessor. But we still stood steadfast and hoped with all of our husker nation hearts that our time would come again....As time progressed, so did the Husker faithful. Until the one time underachiever was now a glowing example of midwestern fortitude and a blue collar workman, who instilled the same ferocious traits in his team that many midwesterners live daily. My family were one of the first settlers who lived in a sod home in Sherman county Nebraska. They never lost faith in some day making a better life for their family and their future generations and I will never lose faith that the groundwork was laid and will be laid again. I'm not trying to blow sunshine and I agree that a change is due in our defensive staff......But I refuse to let the many who have come before me, be disgraced by not being a loyal fan of the Big Red.If the south can do it so will the Huskers,But WE WILL RISE AGAIN!! I believe bill has the O going in the right direction COZ must go............But please people KEEP THE FAITH!

GOD BLESS TOM OSBORNE AND GO BIG RED!!!!!!!! :bonez

GBR!

I'm with freemason...all this crap everyone is posting is getting tiresome. Especially since more of the people who are saying "fire everyone" are newbs to this forum. Where the hell were all of you when Nebraska was doing good?! We lose a game to MU and everyone comes crashing the doors down to Huskerboard for the week. I bet ya if Nebraska starts winning again, we'll never hear from these posters for the rest of the season.

Last I looked my avatar is for next weeks game! My flag is flying, my RED shirts are ready to be put on...and I'm looking forward to next week's game!!!

IT'S COLLEGE FOOTBALL PEOPLE! sh#t HAPPENS.

Please quit drinking the BC/Pedy kool-aid! It is making you think that mediocrity is acceptable.

And when was the last time you actually seen a Nebraska team give up like they did last Saturday night?! NEVER! This coaching staff has proven that it does not have the means nor the capability to lead us back to where we once were? No I don't mean the back to back NC games, I mean the times when we actually BEAT an opponent that was ranked higher then 15! When teams actually took the time and studied our team. When coaches would lose sleep the entire week before the game, wondering how the hell he was going to stop Nebraska on both sides of the ball! When teams feared to come to Lincoln and would be satisfied with a morale victory if they left only to have been beaten by 14! I refuse as a Husker fan to live in mediocrocy and think that "hey buddy, just wait till next year" crap that we as fans have been spoonfed for the last 4 years is working! Instead we get punked by Missery 41-6! Then in the newspaper their QB calls our defense "high school stuff"!! That is unacceptable! Was he correct, you bet your a$$ he was! So you bet your sweet keester I will criticize NU for the Missouri game, I will critize from the AD on down to the waterboy! As a Husker Fan we EXPECT BETTER! Sorry fellow Husker fans but I have officially broke my "Rose colored Glasses" and tossed away the "Big Red kool-aid"!

I think his quote was more like this Following a 12-0 shutout loss to Kansas State in 1968, Coach Devaney uttered one of the most infamous sports quotes of all time. "I know the fans are with me, win or tie", said Devaney.

"We're" bringing down the program??? Where the hell were you last saturday night???

Bill Callahan is bringing the program down. Cosgrove is bringing the program down.

Did the members of this board call pass plays on 3rd and 2? Did the members of this board not even show any defensive pressure on saturday night? Did the members of this board fail to motivate the players saturday night?

No, NO, and HELL NO!!!!

So then no, we're not bringing the program down, and we're not going to "fade into the woodwork".

We're mad as hell because we know what this program has down, what it was capable of under a competant coach, and the pride and tradition that has obviously been rendered null and void.

If anything, you my friend are what's plaguing our team. The complacent attitude, the apparent "it broken so don't fix it" mentality, is what is going to drive this team into the ground...

I read some stats the other day. The huskers never gave up 40 pts to an opponent in the 70's. It happened 3x in the 80's. It's happened 3 times in the last 6 weeks. I was around through the glory yrs. and by the way the game of the century was thanksgiving 1971 not 1970 (freemason9).

9 wins was once considered a poor season and now 9 wins is considered some great accomplishment around here. If anything the fans have sat back too long already while Pederson hands out contract extensions and raises like something really special is happening in those heavily guarded football offices.

There has been very little accomplished in the last 4 yrs in Lincoln, just promises to young recruits that they'll play in the NFL someday. Wouldn't it be better to tell the recruits about what a great honor it is to be a Cornhusker and be a part of a storied history, but wait none of these coaches can relate to that because they are all outsiders who know very little about being a husker and that attitude is showing up on the field more and more each week.

Hahah Yeah, TO decided to retire in 97 because the fans were getting so bad! Their bad attitude started dragging Frankie down until the fans got excited again and the coaching staff magically changed. Once the fans got really positive, then they started to do better. However, after some good wins and an invitation to a decent bowl game, the fans got down for some reason and Frankie was fired. Because the fans haven't gotten their spirits back up yet, the program is continuing to plummet. What we need are new fans with better attitudes! That will make the team do better.

Or, wait, no we need new fans who aren't used to winning so that an exciting showdown with Ball State will leave them teary-eyed. Then, when we finally get good enough to compete against MU again, they'll tear down the goal posts! Hurray! We beat MU! We might get to go to a bowl game! Yay! This just just like that episode of Coach! We beat our big back-and-forth rival, ISU! That's right, baby, we're not last THIS year! YEEAAA!

I think it's interesting that all these big 'fans' haven't even been fans on this board for better than a year. Talk a good game, but only come out of the woodwork when the sh*t hits the fan.

"I've been to this game and that game!" "Back when the Huskers meant something!"

Who cares.

Join up and hate! You were a fan once, here's your chance to belittle at will! Don't worry, you can massacre with ease, boycott everything 'Husker," and once everything is 'back to normal', you will come out smelling like roses and no one will ever doubt your allegiance to the Huskers.

It's so convenient, isn't it?

I am a UNL graduate, grew up in Nebraska during all the great times, cried in the early 80's, celebrated in college in the mid-nineties, and mire in this thing now. And here I am now, and appalled since my friends aren't willing to watch the game with me this week due to what has transpired over the last month, I will go by myself and cheer on the Huskers at a location by myself. That's just how it is.

Maybe NU will never recover. Maybe they'll always be plagued by bad play and bad luck. That's ok. I may be frustrated, but I'll stand by them.

But maybe they will recover. Maybe not this year, maybe not the next. But maybe they will dominate, just start destroying anything around them. Just messing up people, having fun again, making Mark May look stupid as usual, making ESPN have to show Husker highlights against their will, pissing off the rest of the country.

Thank God I'll be able to say....

I stuck with Nebraska...the team...the whole way, no matter what.

What will you be able to say with a clear conscience.
