Replacements Thread

Bill Cower?
Big Steeler and Cowher fan but first of all the money that would take to get him would be in the 6 million dollar dollar range and I don't see his style of play working here either. He'll go back to the pros and make a lot of money.

First he should have never gotten away! Second he had kids who were supoosedly not talented playing at a top 5 defensive level.

We need to purge the program of Pederson , Callahan and his crew and start over!

We have nothing! We are a very poor maybe bottom 25 team!

And I don't see Cower leaving Pitt anyway. He wanted to be there and if I'm correct, he's a former Pitt player. I think if we were to get a new HC, it would be a no-name from a D-IAA or Div II school. Someone who wouldn't need a lot of money to come coach.

I've always liked Gary "The Sweat Man" Patterson from TCU. If you watch him, he's constantly lighting a fire under his players a$$. He's an intense coach who can get things done.

I don't want an NFL coach. I want someone who understands college football and tradition. I would like to have a younger, inspired coach that loves the game overs someone standing on the sideline earning a paycheck.

I keep thinking that we could bring in some former Huskers but I wonder if Callahan would go for that. I keep reading quotes from former Huskers that they feel unwelcome.

GBR!!!

A Turner/Pelini ticket kind of catches my eye, but I doubt Pelini would want to come back...considering.

Basically my feeling at this point is that whoever it is, I would really like to see us return to our running roots. It's what we built our mansion on even after the option was supposedly dead (was it ever alive?). I think I'll turn this idea into a longer post because I have a lot of questions for people who dismiss the option as a viable offensive strategy (and yes I know it itself is actually not an offensive strategy, but we use the term anyway). POWER RUNNING as a ball control theory, mixed with fierce and raging defense, should work if executed properly, regardless of time or place. But anyway, I'll put more into it and post something later on.

Cowher no longer at Pitt.

Gary looks like he could bring a good defense but his offense was the reason they lost the Texas game.

Ok, let's delve into fantasy and think of some replacements for BC. You can nominate anyone, but I'm looking for young, energetic coaches who have never been head coaches before. I want new blood; someone with enthusiasm and swagger and a real desire to achieve.

Here are a couple of choices:

Will Muschamp - Def. Coordinator, Auburn.

Steve Sarkisian - Off. Coordinator, USC.

Brent Venables - Def. Coordinator, OU.

I really could care less that they have no HC experience.
I think all 3 would would be excellent head coaches, I'm not sure how willing any of them would be. USC offensive coordinator is probably a better job then Nebraska head coach at the moment. And the others will have plenty of offers better than Nebraska in the next year or two..

I don't ever see those two guys to consider coming back until Pederson is fired.

T.O. as interm A.D. Joe Glenn from Wyoming as head coach. He won two national championships at UNC in Greeley and his Wyoming team is doing very well with lots less talent than we have. He has beaten Virginia this year as well as TCU last night. He has only one stipulation in his contract and that is if Husker nation needs him. WE NEED HIM. He is a very good coach.
