Rhule finally feels like the "right coach" for Nebraska

Closest to glory was the morning of December 1, 2012 in the Big Ten Championship game. Because Ohio State was out of the picture, all we had to do was beat an unranked 7-5 Wisconsin team we'd already beaten in the regular season. With a win the Husker would have been a Top Ten team playing in the Rose Bowl. That was a helluva meltdown.
That Kenny Bell block though

"The great thing is using your “standings” puts NU and Bo in the current playoffs at least once in 4 years. We would all take that."

Yeah, we'd take it. We'd feel pretty good instead of pretty bad for a quarter century now. It's just that Bo was flaming out, something on a personal level I suppose, and that would have happened just the same no matter our record over time. That whole saga was what Bo gave us, because that was how he responded to being an HC at Nebraska. He couldn't handle us (and our crappy higher-ups at that time). Out of his element..stuff like that. I'm glad he left for both of our sake.

Matt seems to be digging in and working at it; no grandstanding attitude and just blue collar tasking and dealings. It just might come out the way we want it here over time with him.

Agreed - BTN has been playing Nebraska classic games recently. I watched a couple of them and we honestly looked like crap even though we won. We were down 21-7 to a Northwestern team that wasn't good. Ron Kellog saved the day with a hail mary. Iowa was kicking our tail 24-7 despite turning it over numerous times and we somehow came back and won in overtime. Without De'Mornay's punt return for a TD, and a couple other significant returns that game, we lose. Bo won a lot of games because we were scrapy and tough and played with an edge. However, I never felt like we were well coached and surely weren't consistent.

Bo wasn't a very good coach. Wouldn't adapt. Hated recruiting. And played his favorite players instead of the "better" guys on the bench.

Yet he won more than any other coach we've had in the past 20+ years and had more draft picks that anyone else over the same time.

Crazy how all of those things can be true at the same time.
