Rhule finally feels like the "right coach" for Nebraska

Seems a bit early to say Rhule is the right coach. He's better than Frost, but that is a very lower bar. We have a Pinstripe Bowl win, that's the current peak of the Rhule era. Think it's fair to say that if that stays the peak, he won't be here many years.

Okay sort of what I thought. You loved that he won a lot of games but it hurt you as a fan that he played in a lot of big games (because he won a lot of games) and him losing those 'big games" bothered you, fair enough.

And then the rest of it is you being thin skinned, which is also fair enough. We all love to believe that the players and coaches love us because of how supportive we are...even though we spend a lot of time ripping on them non-stop.

I appreciate your reply!

Really? I don't think you appreciate my reply at all because this odd bit of gibberish gets it completely wrong on purpose.

Then why did you completely misrepresent it in your response?

Also, are you drinking today? You know how much I worry about you.
I didn't, I just don't think you understand how your response came off. That is normal though over text/post and not in person.

And no, I am not. But I wish I was! A pina coalda sounds good!

So as I sit here in the lobby of the local fire station (6969), waiting to complete my volunteer fire department application, I really do hope that Rhule is THE GUY and that they win the opener BIG.

His language never bothered me but sometimes the fire he showed on the sidelines against players, coaches or refs looked less like fire and more like loss of control. Underneath the bluster and the way the media portrayed him, it seemed like Bo might be an a$$hole after all. If you had any doubt, his final speech to the team after his firing was the very model of unprofessionalism, containing almost nothing you'd expect a leader to say to the young men he'd be seeing for the last time.

This is very well said.

I love that it is okay for us fans to rip on the coaches, rip on players, rip on refs, rip on the AD and so on...but when a coach or player does it...those guys "lack leadership and maturity"

Classic.

Same. I also love when a homeless guy on the street is shouting about how we're all gonna die and nobody cares, but when a flight attendant does it at 30,000 feet they get fired. Like yeah, exercise the freedom you have as someone not in a job with expectations! Good for you.

He didn't win a conference title in the MAC. He never won more than 9 regular season games. There isn't any reason to think he would have have done better in a tougher conference.

The good MAC coaches get better jobs. He seemed to be a nice guy who had decent success for a long time. He probably got at least as much Hall of Fame credit for being part of a coaching staff that won multiple national championships as he did for what he was able to do on his own. Basically a lifetime achievement award.

His hall in fame induction had to do primarily with him being the winningest coach in the history of the conference.

Bo lived and died by emotion. He could use it to bond and rally guys, but then failed when rationality and discipline were needed. It worked a lot, but also grew tiresome. It was never going to be a long term solution.

We are all going to die. Science has told us that.

But honestly, you should care about that homeless person, first, you should not be calling them "homeless" that is not kind and secondly, you should be helping them.

I mean ... I think that's an assumption on your part. Unless you talked to all the voters.

But even if it's true, he was rewarded for being somewhat above average - not bad enough to get fired but not good enough to win a conference championship nor get a better job. So .... lifetime achievement as opposed to doing something remarkable.
