Should we fire Satterfield??

I give it about a 10% chance satt is here by end of season. 24 hours ago I was in the camp of waiting until the off-season, but not anymore. The guy is not only a liability on the field but off the field as well.

Rhule has a perfect opportunity to make the switch to Glenn Thomas post Ohio state game.  It is not worth having pure incompetence stall what we have to work with and build in raiola and to be a borderline embarrassment answering simple questions to the media

Not sure that would be good either!

I would like to look into what Glenn Thomas has done. Hate to say it but not trusting Rhule right now so is he another buddy or is he a solid OC candidate.

here ya go. More oc experience and more experience with Rhule. Bars pretty low- we got a head coach wanting a body blow run game and he’s running with an OC who is openly admitting he’s just not committing to that mentality.  It’s one thing to have an OC say he gonna do it and not show up- we have an OC who isn’t calling it and pretty much admitted he isn’t planning for it either- bad PR

I feel the writing was on the wall last year and is why Thomas was brought in..  Not sure if this is the spot to demote Satterfield with UCLA coming up and our best shot at bowl eligibility..  but than again, would it matter..?? 🤔

Thinking back to Bill Callahan being open about wanting to attract players who wanted to basically be trained and prepared for the NFL.  Thus his version of spread pass oriented football.  That's fine if everyone is on board.  But, as you say, if HC is wanting smash mouth run game and OC is not.. is the offense guy of similar mind as Callahan was?  Or is he just an ungrounded fool messing around in a job that is over his head?  Can those two (Rhule and Gomer the OC) get together and work that out and freaking make a Nebraska football offense that works game in and game out?

If Satt is indeed let go, who do you all think Rhule will bring in? Do we want this Thomas? If he is Co-OC or whatever his actual title is, he is currently part of the problem? Knowing Rhule (and most coaches for that matter) likes to hire guys he has been connected to, who does he go after then?

Brent Vigen is a guy who I like.  He is likely headed for a better HC position but we could offer one heck of a raise over his current salary and still pay him less than Satt.  He is a run first guy who has had tremendous success in the past.

I get the feeling Rhule won't make changes in season, but if he did it would be after UCLA and during the by week.  I doubt he would do it during a normal week, just my read of the situation.

I simply hope Rhule isn't going to make any changes at all.

So Satt for his career averages the 87th scoring offense in college. So assuming he will continue to be what he has been. 87th. Is that going to get us to the championship football Rhule says he wants?

I wonder if Mr. Rhule even noticed that stat about Satt's career.  If he did not, his hiring competence is in question.  If he did, his hiring competence is in question.  Bringing this sort to Brown University or Eastern Kentucky might seem okay.  This is Nebraska, Matt.  What are you guys doing to us?  Don't answer that.

"I think just a matter that I feel like we have the proper runs and formations and personnel that we can hand the ball off and we can get three or four yards," Satterfield said. "I don't want to hand it off and be stupid and hard-headed and say 'let's run at this big defensive line and get a yard just to say we ran the ball' and then it's second and nine. I need to develop trust in myself and make sure I get the proper play called where we can attack the proper edges to fall for four or five yards and eventually make a guy miss and have an explosive run."

Wonder if he reads this board?

This is simply a coach way in over his head. If a coach does not have confidence in himself, it makes sense why the team has no confidence in themselves. Also why they don’t reflect respect to the coaches by playing as individuals and not as unit. Comments like that are cancerous and explain why the offense has digressed.
