Should we fire Satterfield??

Listen, people aren't ready for a truth bomb of that magnitude just yet.  Let's keep on track here with the OC hate that's in the year 2 script, okay? Thanks.
We absolutely need to get the run game on track to be where want to be. A respectable running game would work wonders for our passing attack, we are nowhere close to a respectable running attack

Because very rarely are we getting our rb to the next 2nd level untouched.  We get no push inside, we already know how inept we are with outside blocking. Mazz might be our best run blocker yet for whatever reason was parked on the bench for a good part of the year. LT has been a black hole and we entered the year with this expectation we could  rely on teddy who has been injured for 95% of his career here.  Our line is massive, yet we can’t move the ball.

im not saying it’s entirely the lines fault. I think dowdell has some of the worst vision of a starting rb I’ve ever seen.

but eye test wise, I couldn’t tell u the last time we actually pushed a team around on the ground game

stats wise doesn’t tell a great story either
I think 4 of our 5 biggest rushes were untouched up the middle against Ohio State. I would agree that Dowdell has terrible vision, but so does seemingly anyone not named Rahmir. There are holes to run through on our zone plays, but the backs just don't see them outside of #14. Tackle play has been fine compared to the last 6 years. The perimeter issues are pretty much TE/WR not O line, and the weakest link of the O line has been the guards when we are pulling tackles and TEs.

If we simply ran it like we did against Ohio state I wouldn’t have issue. And that’s probably why I’m so baffled by our run game as, for the most part, its been mostly an uphill climb. If we can build on this past Saturday and run like this the rest of the way I’ll take back my stance. Even this past Saturday, felt like we went away from some things that were there to be had.  we just seem to love to overthink offense play calling

I’ve made my stance on satt baffling play calling be known. I’d like to see us call way more play action, I’d like to see us be more deliberate with establishing the run, I’d like to see more heavy sets and build off that.  All of this, to me, would tremendously help our line.

Well why not talk about the Huskers RB coach then?

The resume of our Running Back Coach might be a consideration for thought, and less about the O-Line and play calling by the OC.

EJ Barthel, Running Backs coach:

One year at Howard (2018)

One year at William & Mary (2019)

One year at UConn (2022)

2023 to present - Nebraska

This does not exactly endorse or scream Doak Walker.  <_<

And as the RB coach, he is the Manager and Boss of the group.  He is also the one who communicates to the O-Line Coach, OC, and HC who is the starter, the rotations on game day, the player that can be physical, the player that can block, the player that can catch, and the one who should be the bell cow in the fourth quarter if it comes down to it.

He is probably well liked by the RB committee because everyone gets to be in the game and gets touches. Nice. Except if your name is Gabe.  Or the few games he did not play EJ.  So there is that.

I've already said he needs to go. Does Ron Brown still want a job?

Yeah him, Foley of course, and perhaps McGuire need to start saving their pennies past Thanksgiving.  I feel as if they were just thrown in to get the original staff up and running and out to recruiting the first class.

Cause I’m too busy getting frustrated at OC, special teams, and wr coach lol.

I could be mixing him up but isn’t EJ a pretty big influence with Rhule on the recruiting front and finding guys under the radar?  Thought he played a pretty big role in us netting Barney

I think the new rules in place around analysts getting to be on practice field have made brown somewhat of a rb coach already. Thought brown didn’t have interest in past years cause he was over the travel demands that recruiting required. I

Perhaps it's Rhule's insistence that we keep doing things we're not good at that is causing a lot of the problem....

Yeah. I wonder what the coaches are seeing in practice when the 1's on offense go up against the 1's on defense and how they're interpreting what they're seeing.

We're not executing the blocking on the screens & swings at all, really. But we are pass blocking better. I'd rather see more downfield throws at this point just to try something different. Or some short crosses, we have the guys for that play.

I'd even take some toss plays with a tight end in the H-back spot as a lead blocker.

With the cushion our secondary gives receivers, these plays may work in practice and not live..  it may also be why our receiver's route are off when they get challenged at the line.  just a thought...

I think we ran a couple toss sweeps against the FCS and directional schools, but I feel like our RBs would just want to turn them back inside for no gain

Adam says that Satt isn't getting it done.   He isn't calling for his firing.. yet.  But he thinks Glen Thomas should be given the opportunity to lead the offense by calling plays vs USC if Satt does poorly again vs UCLA.

I don't disagree with him but I think Carriker is pandering to the part of the fan base being the loudest right now.
