Some Kool-aid for those that need it.

Also, for those who remarked about Martinez being bigger this year, that is a definite "Yes." He's huge compared to last year.
I'm hoping the extra muscles give him enough confidence to ram ahead for a few yards instead of his weird technique of slowing down for impact.
Most of that was not because he was "scared" of contact or just didn't know how to take a hit.

At the beginning of last year, the coaches and players talked a lot about how he needs to slide and get out of bounds and avoid hits. So, they tried to coach him to avoid hits instead of taking them.
I know that. But half the time instead of sliding he slowed down without attempting to slide and took horrible shots standing straight up.

I would say that's because it's not in his nature to slide. Obviously he didn't play much baseball :)

Try taking someone like Eric Crouch and saying..."We don't want you to take hits. We want you to slide instead".

The entire mental aspect to running the ball changes. Eric wouldn't have been anywhere close to the type of runner he was if the coaches would ahve said that. And, he might have looked just as bad at trying to do it.

Okay, we've gotten a little beat up during fall camp. Lost a couple of players. Here's what we need:

freaking awesome

Anyone needing kool-aid just needs to watch BTN's Nebraska preview. They were really, really geeked for our defense. Felt it would be better overall than last year's, despite having less star power. They made it sound like the offense will need to click and help the DEF for the first part of the season, but the D should be able to play at a conference-championship level before the season is out.

I expected to hear lots of concern about replacing lost parts, but there was none of that. Barely talked about Crick (although Crick barely played last year with those injuries), and while they mentioned Fonzie and David, they didn't seem to think the dropoff would be so huge. What surprised me most was how much they raved about the secondary. This was my biggest area of concern this year, but they raved about the strength of this unit.

I'm sure they'll rerun it again if you missed it. It was quite the kool-aid session. Also, for those who remarked about Martinez being bigger this year, that is a definite "Yes." He's huge compared to last year.
I recorded it, still haven't watched it. I tried watching it on BTN2GO, or whatever, the other day but I have a problem with watching an hour video at my computer.

Unless it's pr0n.
