Contacted as LB or DC?

Hard to see why he would leave Alabama for a lateral move here unless he gets a little more $$$ and has nostalgic pangs for Nebraska.

Probably be looked at as a DC I bet..

Did he do well at Clemson or Bama as a DC?...
Based on Riley'd comments on hiring his staff and position coaches, I'd say he's being looked at for the LB coach.

Outside of money, why would he want to leave bama for here?
I'm not sure. But just for a reference he is making about $200,000 a year at Bama.
Actually he's making $700,000 a year
Linebackers coach Kevin Steele will make $700,000 in a contract through February 2016.

Thanks, I could only find when he was just the recruiting guy.

If he's making $700k a year, he's not coming here to be LBs coach.
You never know...

Recruiting is the lifeblood of programs. Every time so far I've read about an assistant or coordinator making big salary, they've also had special reputation as a recruiter. If you're going to open the checkbook, recruiting is something to invest in.

Probably also reinforces it to the coaches on the staff: if you want to increase your value, get after it on the trail.

I have been saying that for years. The current big dogs do it different. Bama is the mother ship on this. You get Steele here, we can come back quickly. He knows the ropes, how to sell, who to sell (MOM) and who to make adequate (DAD). He is making that money because of the recruiting side, period. Never seen, but hear about it all the time on, yea I know the Finebaum show, but not from Paul, but people working with in that system. Nebraska can do this, especially with the Big 10 money coming in. We most likely need to spend another 20% due to location.

Anxious to see what the staff ends up looking like.
