Easy to blame the politicos, but they are also meeting privately with Biden and coming away more concerned and a bit angry at Biden's inner circle for keeping him in a bubble about the realities on the ground. And it turns out many of the alternative names are polling at least couple points better than Joe. Not sure where you get your confidence that it's still a coin flip between Biden and Trump, or that voter interest in replacing Biden is just click bait. 65% of Democrats now think Biden should step aside.

Just watching Joe walking and interacting these days is a red flag. I think we all have to be honest about that. The nightmare scenario is spending the next four months watching it get worse, unable to do anything about it. Some might claim the media is being unfair catching every Biden stumble and gaffe, but it's not unfair. It's an incredibly legitimate story. Perhaps we all agree that a weakened Biden is far better than a raging Donald Trump, but that weaker Biden is not going to do better than the stronger Biden who was already trailing in the swing states he carried in 2020.
Doesn't matter that Dems either in the circle or outside of it think Biden should drop out. It only matters if he gives a better chance of beating Trump than another candidate. If the party leaders didn't want Biden because he's old, they should have ran a primary. They stupidly didn't, so there's no one to blame but themselves.

There's no simple fix because there's no better Dem candidates. They are all pretty meh. If they want to lose for sure, try running one of them. Their numbers will drop as soon as they become the nominee and have to go out on the campaign trail.

Who are the Dem party leaders?

It will be interesting to see the ballistic trajectories when all is said and done. Either the shoot was competent and Don was one lucky SOB, or he was horrible and Donny took some shrapnel.
I have the feeling the bandage is to coverup how small the wound is.

I remember when we were supposed to pretend Biden didn't have dementia because none of us were qualified medical professionals.   I'm proud of you all for getting your medical degrees.

That's a cool story.

Feel free to fact check any of these quotes from the cheeto.

"I don't think Ivanka would do that inside the magazine. Although she does have a very nice figure. I've said that if Ivanka weren't my daughter, perhaps I would be dating her."

"Women have one of the great acts of all time. The smart ones act very feminine and needy, but inside they are real killers. The person who came up with the expression 'the weaker sex' was either very naive or had to be kidding. I have seen women manipulate men with just a twitch of their eye -- or perhaps another body part."

"You know, it doesn't really matter what they write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of a$$."

"I will build a great wall -- and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me --and I'll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words."

"It's like in golf. A lot of people -- I don't want this to sound trivial -- but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It's weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can't sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist."

“Somebody said he looks great in a bathing suit, right? And you know, when he was in the sand and he was having a hard time lifting his feet through the sand, because you know sand is heavy, they figured three solid ounces per foot, but sand is a little heavy, and he’s sitting in a bathing suit. Look, at 81, do you remember Cary Grant? How good was Cary Grant, right? I don’t think Cary Grant, he was good. I don’t know what happened to movie stars today. We used to have Cary Grant and Clark Gable and all these people. Today we have, I won’t say names, because I don’t need enemies. I don’t need enemies. I got enough enemies. But Cary Grant was, like – Michael Jackson once told me, ‘The most handsome man, Trump, in the world.’ ‘Who?’ ‘Cary Grant.’ Well, we don’t have that any more, but Cary Grant at 81 or 82, going on 100. This guy, he’s 81, going on 100. Cary Grant wouldn’t look too good in a bathing suit, either. And he was pretty good-looking, right?”

“It’s a magnificent love story, like Gone With the Wind. You know Gone With the Wind, you’re not allowed to watch it any more. You know that, right? It’s politically incorrect to watch Gone With the Wind. They have a list. What were the greatest movies ever made? Well, Gone With the Wind is usually number one or two or three. And then they have another list you’re not allowed to watch any more, Gone With the Wind. You tell me, is our country screwed up?”

“The fake news will say, ‘Oh, he goes from subject to subject.’ No, you have to be very smart to do that. You got to be very smart. You know what it is? It’s called spot-checking. You’re thinking about something when you’re talking about something else, and then you get back to the original. And they go, ‘Holy s#!t. Did you see what he did?’ It’s called intelligence.”

An alternate view.

So many, some might say a majority of, people have expressed frustration and disappointment with either of the current choices. I don’t have any polling data to back this up but it is my opinion that almost any fresh face that is not old and senile or old, crazy and an idiot might instantly have a very good chance with a significant number of voters. The hard left is going Dem and the hard right is going Repub regardless but the people that are going to decide this election might, just might, welcome somebody, anybody that is not Trump and not Biden. In fact the very possibility that there could be somebody else to vote for is a little exciting and energizing.

I don’t want the dems to throw away any chance to beat Trump but I don’t think the status quo with Joe is a near good enough chance. At this point in time I really don’t see how their chances get any worse than going with Biden. He was okay for his first 4 but everyone now knows he is just too damn old (as is Trump also). His greatest quality is he is not Trump. Anybody but Trump and a handful of MAGA crazies can claim that. My preference would be virtually anyone other than Joe or Kamala. JMO.

Yes, I was going to say it but you said it already, it should not be Harris. I really wanted to like her in 2020 but did not once I heard her talk.

Here's Cink Uygur and top Democratic strategist Dmirti Mehlhorn. It's really a good listen. Both make great points, and present most of the points poster here have been making. Uygur is a more skilled debater and has better stagecraft but Mehlhorn holds his own.

Must have been the Covid making him think we had Internet back in the Roosevelt days

Can you imagine the stuff this dude says that’s NOT on tape?!?!?!??
He clearly had trouble articulating that but it didn't appear to me as if he said there was internet in Roosevelts time. It seemed like he was comparing it to initiatives to get electricity to rural agricultural areas in a past time.
