On one hand yes, on the other... this election is so decisive that I don't think it mattered.

Inflation made voters really mad, and Democrats were in charge when it happened. They were destined to lose simply because the circumstances favored Republicans.

Perhaps a better candidate would've kept the margins closer, but ultimately it wouldn't have mattered.
Again “it is the economy stupid it is the economy “.  To borrow the old Bill Clinton line. Inflation has had a bigger impact than what I thought it would since the economy was improving. Harris may not have spent enough time trying to prove the improvements as the economy was rated one of the top two issues besides the topic of democracy. Abortion was a distant third and immigration 4th according to an NBC exit poll.

They should have stayed far away from the democracy topic, since they skipped right over the whole democracy part of the process to install her as candidate.

I also feel like I've heard more from Vance in this one campaign than I ever heard from Harris in 4 years as VP and the campaign combined.  Her main focus should have been letting the voters get to know her as a person.  Although, that may have backfired.  There's probably a reason her handlers wouldn't allow her to do long, unscripted interviews.

Ultimately the topic of Democracy and Abortion were by far the strongest positions Democrats had.

Any attempt to discuss how real wages are rising or how good the economy is doing makes voters upset. It makes Democrats seem "disconnected" from voters.

It's why they were destined to lose this election. It really was as simple as "price go down when Trump, price go up when Biden".

I said it before but what they did to Harris during her time as VP was downright disgusting.  They had a chance to showcase a female minority VP as much as possible and all they did was hide her.

I think showcasing her as a female minority would've hurt her more.

At the end of the day, the results of this election were baked in a long time ago. If Democrats went through a mini-primary and nominated their best candidate - Josh Shapiro or Roy Cooper - they still lose, probably by only slightly better margins.

In this way, Democrats are fortunate their best candidates did not run, their political fortunes would've been wasted.

Oh that is interesting.  Almost like "saving" one of them for the future?

Very upsetting to say the least. Really hope this isn't the end of democracy as we know it. Trump already tried the first time to stick around after he lost and has told us again and again he wouldn't give up power this time and no one listened apparently. Idk we will see but I am not feeling good about it as an American citizen waking up today.

Yes I am very disappointed with the results. I’m not so concerned about trump staying in office as I am seeing JD take over mid-term. He is young and a true believer in all things MAGA and has been preparing for his climb to the top all of his career.

Going forward we'll have "election" results like this with trump or vance instead of putin

Half a term is all Trump needs to screw it all up. Get ready for mass firings of non partisan government officials. I really hope we are all wrong and the Trumpers are right and he is the best president ever..I really truly hope that because the alternative is incredibly alarming.

That will be in 2032 after 2028 is postponed for security reasons.

Have you heard her talk? They knew what they were doing.
