i see the extreme left outside protesting the center left at their convention. at the Republican convention the extreme right wasn't outside protesting...they were inside in control of the convention.

Picking and choosing what crimes to get upset about is dumb. Immigrants - legal or otherwise - commit fewer crimes than Americans.
But if you want to make up issues to justify voting for stupid politics, hear me out on this one: we should build a wall around Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Those states are absolute s#!tholes, they are among the most dangerous states in the country, their living standards are lower than Estonia, Poland or Andorra's, and the rest of America would be better served if we built a wall around them to keep the citizens of those states out.

It's a bit like the DNC in Chicago in 1968. If you are protesting America's role in an immoral war, you are protesting the current administration, even if the opposition is as bad or worse, because it's happening on their clock. Lyndon Johnson in 1968 and Biden/Harris in 2024. At least the ideology is consistent.
But yeah, those who want to paint Harris and the Dems as socialists or extremists should talk to the socialists and extremists. The Democratic Party is definitely not in their thrall. In addition to being complicit or worse on Palestine, they consider Kamala Harris too tough on crime, and they voiced issues with her back in 2019. Many of the folks this far left will not be voting for Harris and have found a way to justify the risk of electing Trump.

For years if you wanted to buy a Volvo and avoid the considerable import tax, Volvo would fly you to Stockholm, let you buy the car directly from them, and ride back with it on a car-carrying vessel across the Atlantic. Still cheaper than buying from a U.S. dealer, with a Scandinavian vacation thrown in. They might still be doing this for all I know.

Actually, I don't think anyone disagrees with this. Dangerous people with proven records should not be allowed in our country.
Being criminals, they've managed to bypass our rules for years across multiple administrations. Not surprising their numbers would grow proportionately when there are waves of migration. Bill Melugin does not detail whether illegal immigrants are more violent than the legal U.S. population, although my understanding is that they're not and these cases are being used to whip up partisan anti-immigrant electioneering, creating its own case history of violence. Even so, if there is a better way to prevent or prosecute violent criminals entering the U.S., we need to pursue it. I have zero sympathy for the cartel a$$h@!es on either side.
When it says they've be "caught and released at the border" does that mean they are released to Mexico, where they presumably came in? Is he inferring that they are released at the border but still inside the U.S.? Can they be tried and imprisoned in the U.S., or are we just trying to keep them out of our overtaxed judicial system?

We certainly could make up that issue if you think it would work. However, 1) you’ve told me walls don’t work :thumbs Or maybe now they do :dunno
2) if we are gonna do the wall thing, why not just put it around the 1/2 mile—1 mile square blocks in cities of where most crime takes place in those states? Seems more efficient, no?

Just saying, Walls Don't Work but you know what does work, implementation of reasonable law. (Key word "reasonable" example prohibition was not reasonable and neither is the continued criminalization of weed. However, setting legal limits in it's use is reasonable.) Dang it anyway, wake up Nebraska and at least legalize medical use.

I was just back in Nebraska and saw the billboards for dispensaries featuring marijuana leaves. My brother confirmed pot is still illegal, and these vendors are just selling the THC adjacent products while they wait for legalization. He's convinced Nebraska will be the last state in the union to legalize marijuana.

Idaho is a beautiful state and I'd hate to sacrifice it, but I'd be willing to let Idaho be the test case for a MAGA populated America that does not depend on federal funding, teaches the white-friendly view of history, and chooses only the pieces of the Constitution they'd like to obey. No walls required. The faithful will flock there and outsiders will be happy to stay away. There are other good options for fly-fishermen.

I think North Dakota will hold Nebraska's beer and allow Nebraska to be 2nd to last on legalized marijuana and other inevitable yet "progressive" no brainers.

Nebraska will legalize pot and gambling (is it sort of legal??) and beer at memorial stadium. I don't know WHEN but I know it will be about 4 days after the death of someone we all know.

Not trying to post for a fight, rather I'm genuinely curious. Since being independent I am not allowed to cast a vote on a republican primary and that angers me. On the other hand I can (in fact I'm encouraged) on the dem ticket. My question is (and NO I'm not asking to cause any discontent) how those supporting the left actually feel about the Harris ticket. I'm personally fully undecided right now. I was leaning Trump but started leaning Biden and now I'm like totally undecided and uncertain. I find I keep asking myself is it right to support an "appointed" (not elected) candidate? Please move on from my question if you only want to bash one candidate or the other. I'm totally lost... Help me to see why voting for the appointed (at least in this case) is acceptable.
