Five-Star Recruit
I feel we've got to give mad props to the staff and the players today. It was a loss and one that shouldn't have been, but if you'll indulge me, here were the positives I saw today.
We didn't quit, spotting them 21 pts. and then giving them the ball twice in amazing field position to start the 2nd half and we clawed our way into the lead.
We stuck with our game plan. After going down early no one panicked and we kept chipping away, which worked.
We made some half-time adjustments. I'm not even sure what they were, but after getting picked apart in the 1st half the defense came out and kept us in the game to start the 2nd half, while the offense did what they needed to.
The freshman played and delivered. Glenn and Lucky rotated in and out a lot in the 4th quarter. Glenn is a horse!!! Dillard got some time on the defense and did what he was asked to do. Brooks was actually in there at least once, but didn't do anything that i recall.
The kids are playing for each other and for their coaches. They gave everything they had today and when the crowd got on C. F.Thomas or whatever his name is for the three retard plays in the 2nd quarter his teammates patted him in the helmet and he didn't do too bad at all the rest of the game. There was never any quit in anyone and that alone is enough to respect the job the coaches and players have done.
We can hang with anyone left on our schedule. Spotting TT 21 pts. and clawing back to have the win stolen from us is reason to believe that we won't be out of our league til maybe the CC game, if then.
The stadium was an absolute madhouse. No one left and no one stopped cheering. Not that is was ever a concern, but i still feel its worth mentioning, the fan base is behind the team as much as ever.
Bottom line...a loss is a loss, and this one hurts for everyone, but I can't blame any player or any coach for this one. The breaks didn't go our way and we lost the turnover battle but I still feel they coached and played well enough to win. If you disagree, fine, but I personally feel you're fighting a losing battle. Great job today Huskers!!!
