The Oscar Boycott

If the Oscars were created and advertised as PURPOSEFULLY being for whites only, a white exclusive event and awards ceremony, then you could make the comparison between the two, but then black actors/actresses wouldn't be boycotting either.

I don't watch it. But people of color have a legitimate complaint about the number of roles and recognition they receive.

It's really the only way to look at it. You have all white executives choosing predominantly all white actors for all of the major roles in TV and Movies. Then you have an all white voting panel deciding who the best actors are.
Seems to me people of color start out way behind from the get go.

Why would whites boycott the BET awards? The BET awards were created to acknowledge people of color in culture because they weren't getting recognized anywhere else consistently.

I didn't ask about Spike Lee. You're saying it sounds like Jada is racist but you don't even know whether she's a 45ish year old woman or a 15 year old boy.

I'll nominate Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith for their ridiculous Oscar boycott for not enough diversity........

The BET Awards doesn't offer any diversity either.......you wanna boycott that one too......oh wait its in their favor

The BET awards ARE the f'ing diversity.

Spike Lee and Jada are complaining about the lack of diversity amongst nominations for black actors. So they want more nominations for black people for the Oscars but yet the BET awards only nominate black actors and music performers.

How is that any different from what they are complaining about for the Oscars? Wheres the double standard?

What black actor(s) should've been nominated for an award(s)?

So next year if a black person gets nominated, will it be because they deserved it or because of this stunt?
