The Republican Utopia

I don't know...But it sounds like the answer would be yes.

Okay, good, so you rightly understand that someone can be looking for content about a topic and then be fed narratives that are in the category but also adding in perspectives and opinions you didn't actually search for.

As easy as it would be for someone to look up college football content, be fed a bunch of ESPN and Paul Finebaum videos and be convinced that the SEC is miles better than everyone else in the country, someone could also look up something like, say, the war in Gaza (innocent curiosity, not searching out hateful content), then be fed biased anecdotal rageful narratives from Palestinians, or dehumanizing callous and unsympathetic narratives from zionists.

I can't imagine that if I type in "Husker Football" that I will get Nazi videos.

Maybe a rabbit hole, or a "pipeline" if you will, could go something like this (mostly in jest, very hypothetical, but you're smart enough to understand the point quite well):

- Start by looking at nebraska football videos

- Get really into exploring nasty rivalries

- Start getting fed hot take skip bayless type nonsense

- Get led into the larger barstool sports types of vibes, with alpha bro culture and aggressive debates surrounding things like caitlin clark. fed content about the racial animosity towards her in the wnba

- Head into algorithmic overlaps with certain elements of Joe Rogan esque podcasts, that talk about "traditional values", masculinity, society going soft, etc.

- Start being fed content that's far more insidious but cleverly masked as "historical education" and "cultural commentary" that's full of dog whistles about “Western civilization” or scapegoating marginalized groups—ultimately leading to neo-Nazi propaganda accounts.

Dude, this is literally AWESOME.

You went from looking up Husker Videos to joining the KKK.   You have to KEEP watching the videos, over and over, the entire video and then watch the next one and the next.  That is searching, even if the first search was not for a hate video, the rest of it was.  No need to try and excuse what those hate dorks do, just call them out for it.  It is not an accident when you watch 10 Nazi videos in a row.

Not sure if you have any records at your place, but if you do, DO NOT play them backwards because you are about to hear some REALLY scary s#!t.

A bunch of tries...a bunch of beers and a bunch of this convo

"Dude...I totally think I heard something...play it again, for real, do it"

And you and your new friend (it is always a guy you just met) play it over and over and of course you make plans to hang out later that week.  Then you never talk to that guy again.

If this happened to someone, it's their responsibility. I'm making zero excuses for anyone, just trying to help you put some easy conceptual pieces together on how what you consume is geared to keep you addicted and can easily affect you.

Do you believe in people becoming radicalized, as a concept? You think it ever happens to anyone?

If we're going all in on "the things I like can't possibly be bad or hurt me," and we're not Ozzie Osbourne or Steven Tyler, maybe this isn't a solid argument.
I mean, Tik Tok is probably heavily involved with the PLA's advancement into cognitive warfare but as long as @teachercd see's cat videos and doesn't actively get bombarded with the overt messaging that experiments with how to change somebody's perception of reality, it's probably all fine and dandy.

Dog videos!!!  Cat videos 100% will radicalize a person.

again, it’s the same argument we heard about heavy metal about violent video games…

I get what you are saying… But it’s the exact same argument we heard about heavy metal and horror, movies, and violent video games… All which, for the most part have been proven to not be correct.

Can we all agree that forcing workers BACK to the office is a great move???
I'm very tired of certain employees of companies working from home and it, many times, just makes it harder to work with them.

However, I think it's stupid to make a blanket law that all employees have to go back to the office.  The majority...probably yes.  But, there are some that it really doesn't matter.

My friend has a staff of workers and he said getting them BACK into the office is so hard.  At best he gets them in a few days a week and of course on Thursday he hears them saying "Okay, I am heading out, see you on Tuesday!" basically a 4 day vacation.

My guess is that most jobs can be done from home, my other guess (and this is 100% accurate) is that people working from home are not working all that much.  I know because I did it for 2 months.

If I had a work from home job, I would NEVER go back to the office.  I would never give up that freedom.

I have a friend who "works" for time here a huge company here in Omaha AND runs another full time gig out of his house.  He keeps telling me how he is just waiting to get canned from his "real" job so he can collect his nice severance package and focus on his own gig.  But it has been 3 years!  It is awesome for him.

I will agree with this in the private sector but government employees can and should show up for work and be held accountable for their time.

This is a rare issue where I agree with Trump.

I get all that, and I agree.  I have a few employees that work from home and it's very hard to manage them.

However, take the situation with my future daughter in law.  She's not a federal employee, but she works for the state of Missouri in their ag extension department.  The vast majority of her job is traveling around the state going to and putting on seminars for farmers..etc.  She spends very little time actually in an office....even if she was required to.  She actually lives in Nebraska.  If she were required to go to the office, she would have to quit and find another job.  For her, it really makes no sense if the state of Missouri would demand her have an office in Columbia MO where she would be required to go to.

I agree with it 98.734%

Having a job that requires you to be out at various sites isn’t what we’re talking about here. Of course those people  shouldn’t/wouldn’t be expected to be in an office. That is completely different than working from home.

That might not be what WE are talking about.  If the executive order accounts for this, then I agree 100%.
