Those No Longer With Us

I'd like to hear the specifics of the case, first. If Scott is legitimately owed a substantial amount of money by the University, he should not be afraid to ask for it. If the University is being unethical as an additional punishment to Frost thinking he won't want to go public, that's on the University. I don't see any evidence at the moment that Scott is being petty.

As for Scott's love of the state? Hard to say. His dad Larry Frost was a notorious ashhole who had a longstanding beef with both UNL and Tom Osborne that pre-dated Scott. When Scott became a big in-state star, Larry got his payback by sending Scott to Stanford instead. When Scott came back to UNL as the prodigal QB, he was generally disliked by the veterans, although the younger players rallied around him in the '97 championship year and spoke more highly of him. Every interview with Scott in the wake of his 2018 hiring sounded like a guy who was pretty happy in Florida -- either staying at UCF or going to Florida -- and the pressure to return sounded a lot more like duty than love. His personal life is only conjecture, but it's no secret Scott was going through some tough stuff his entire time back in Lincoln. If only half the rumors are true -- and I suspect they are -- Scott's head was never fully in the game as was reflected in the record he earned here.

Isaiah McMorris playing in a bowl tomorrow with Mo. State (though "playing" may need to be in quotes here, caught 1 ball on the year... still, way to go Bears, first year in FBS!)

On Sports Nightly, MR, if I understood what he was saying, said ‘there are guys who left last year that want to come back, and we would welcome them back’. I am curious who he would be talking about. Seagren seems most likely to be someone that they would bring back if the guys who left who still have eligibility left. Just thought it was an interesting comment. It probably means nothing but seeing how many guys never make it back out of the portal, and from some comments that Rhule has made in the past, I wonder if we see fewer guys nationwide enter the portal.

I do believe there was a caveat to what Rhule said. Something along the lines of being productive where they were. Which would effectively eliminate everybody except Dowdell. The next thing he said was something along the lines of the grass not always being greener.

I don't know what psychological edge Fleck produced playing Coleman in that game, but it seems like it worked and were virtually the only meaningful snaps he took all season.

I think you're right on Seagren though I wonder if Jaylen Lloyd is included there. He was at the Westside/Millard South game last month with several former Husker teammates.

Seagren probably would have started at RT this year but left. Rhule tried talking him out of it but he didn't want to listen and was still pissed that Rhule got on his a$$ for being lazy at times.
