We can't beat OU

Keep it with in 10 and I would be a very happy camper.
if that is true then your name "skersfan" is a lie... true fans are not happy with a close game or keeping it within ten, especially nebraska fans... give me a break
I think you know what he means. He wants a good showing. We always want to be competitive and the last few weeks we've been pretty pathetic. We want wins, we expect wins, but we also realise losses happen and we only ask the team to give it their all. We see nebraska's offense come out of the gates and play with fire (not flat) we will be competitive.

Nah, beating OU is a pipe dream. We don't have the line, receivers, RBs, or experience at QB to do anything but hope to win an ugly game against them. IF we won it would be because they lost.

speaking the truth....we have no chance, well, maybe if they have 8 turnovers....... <_<

hell, Baylor shut us down in the 2nd half......think OU defense is weaker than their defense? <_<

The opiton would be keeping it under 30.

How does that fit for ya there great fan?

Any reasons in your faith, and facts that would change my mind?

Or you just run your mouth because you can.

I have pointed out reasons I think we have problems.

Your a fan I see so it makes no difference.

I hope you are right.

I hope I am wrong.

Saturday will tell.

Thanks for your knowledge, I can tell it will come in handy while I sprinkle Pixie dust on everything Husker.
How bout the option winning the game... If you meant keeping the game competitive, then ya, i agree with you completely, I sure as hell hope we don't get blown out, but I also am sick of hearing people wishing to not get killed. For the facts.. Nebraska is at home, it is a night game, they have the #4 defense in the country, Oklahoma is without their heisman hopeful qb, Oklahoma gave up 30 to kansas st., at home, Nebraska should be motivated from last years 1st quarter humiliation, Oklahoma's weak spot (most would agree) is their offensive line while Nebraska's strong spot on the strength of their team is the defensive line, Nebraska finished well after a 5-3 start last year, Oklahoma has the same number of losses (clearly better losses though), Bo Pelini is a strong motivator, and vegas seems to think it will be closer than 75% of this board thinks (I'll be the first to point out that vegas is wrong a lot, but not as much as they are right). It is a proven fact that the public is wrong more times than they are right. All that said, anything could happen in this game, as always. I'm sure you are a huge fan, and probably a bit more realistic than myself haha, I can't help it though. Go Big Red

OU is going to do quick passes to their fast receivers on the side before Suh and Co. can even break through the line. Watch the first drive of theirs agaisnt K-State and you'll see what I'm talking about.

It's too bad, because if we had the offense and players we had preseason (Helu healthy, Castille, etc.) this would have been a sweet game.

Their defensive line against our Oline.... OUch.

At the beginning of the year, it was a stretch but it was possible for us to win this game.

But we have a big weakenss at QB, no running backs, no WR that catch the ball, we do not use our TE.

And we throw that god awful pass to the sidelines that their DB's will eat up.

They will keep 8-9 in the box if we can not stretch the field, making our running game non existant.

With nothing but very short out patterns they will crowd the line as if it were a running play. Their defensive line which is till intact was rated better than ours at the beginning of the year. I think Crick has changed that, but they are very very good.

Their QB play is better, their running backs are healthy.

Could we win, sure, but I do not see it happening. It is on National/Regional TV. We can not stand another beatdown. Our recruiting will suffer even more.

here are a couple of facts as regards the NU defense, a stout unit -- the wins have been over the sunbelt (even the offense looked good in those games!! ), mizzou (and guess what? THEY think they gave the game away :laughpound ) and baylor, two teams with a collective 8 wins and 8 losses between them and a collective 1-7 conference record.

not exactly tough competition.

vegas seems to think it will be closer than 75% of this board thinks
vegas spreads don't predict the score. Unless they have a crystal ball and an ability to see the future, that is impossible.

they use the spread to adjust the money bet on the game. they try to even it out. sometimes they are close with the opening spread, sometimes they aren't. that's why the line can change.

comparing losses and scores is just ... :LOLtartar

Oklahoma gave up 30 to kansas st., at home
well it doesn't work. i.e. the isu game.

trust me, you don't want to go there.

every game is winnable.

NU can win tomorrow. anything can happen.

it just isn't likely.

GO BO!!

BEAT OU!!

This game will more than likely be the nail in the coffin for this program. Our history is now ancient, we havent played for a title in 9 years or a major bowl, we have pretty much been a doormat in the conference since then. If we take another beat down on National T.V. it really is not doing us any favors. I dont know how many nationally televised games we can get our asses handed to us before we become completely irrelevant, but I am suspecting this to be the one that does it.

Ancient = 9 years ago? I agree things may look bad now, but I think this is a little far people.

OUs time during the 90s makes these last 7 years for NU look amazing. And look at where OU is standing now...

Billdozer,

You mention one of my biggest concerns. That is why I continue to try to make people understand where we are and what we are against.

Too lofty expectations that do not come to fruition make people angry, disappointed. Which leads to booing, and leaving the game before it is over.

This program can not handle another coaching change. That is where we are headed I am afraid, if we continue putting unrealistic expectations on this staff and team.

No matter the outcome of this game we have to remain positive. The team/staff already think the fans are against them. Displaying that on National TV will do nothing but damage to the program. We are in a precarious situation now.

If the game gets out of hand, and the boos start as they have in the past, I am afraid you are right about the nail in the coffin. We have to be the fan base we claim to be tomorrow night. If we aren't the fans will do more damage to the program than the play of the team.

We need to competitive. We have to be. If not you will hear the calls for Bo's head as they have already started calling for the heads of others, staff and players.

Sad but I am afraid true.

We havent had a marquee win in a decade and we continually get beat down on national tv in our marquee matchups. The future is bleek, i am just coming to realize it.

I agree with most of what you say, however with Nebraska there will be no changing expectations. It is in our blood to expect a good footabll team every year, and that is just the way it is. Trev Alberts said something along those lines when Mark May was so puzzled as to why solich was fired after 2003. I think people are angry and dissapointed because they expected improvement, which we have clearly seen on the defensive side of the ball. I think they have exceeded all expectations in that area. Unfortunately we have taken a major step back with the offense, and that is probably where expectations were a little high, myself included. I predicted a 10 win regular season, going 1-1 against va tech oklahoma and winning the north. With everything that's happened with the offense, things just aren't clicking. 2 of those goals are still attainable, but a bit unlikely. I'll tell you though, the effort is clearly there, something that I couldn't say in 2007, which is why at this point the only thing more disappointing to me than the offense struggling is people booing and leaving with the game in doubt.

The administration stuck with Osborne and his first win over Oklahoma took some time. Can't imagine TO not sticking with Pelini especially when we are getting better.
