Yeah. It's kind of like there's some hidden insinuation that once we were up 28-0 the only excusable outcome was then just flat out embarrassing them. We won by 18.

Also, we're talking about situational context. Technically we really only need to "open things up" if we're in a boat race, because our defense looks to be almost on the level of 2009. Notice I said "almost."    :)

I think the conversation is more about whether we can switch things up a bit at receiver to get guys a little bit more open.

Here's a question, maybe a concern.  Penalties killed us for sure the 2nd half, but did CU make any adjustments at half that we didn't counter?  I know the 2 long plays (1 TD, 1 probably would've set up 1) would make the score and the 2nd half look much better 42-10 vs 28-10.  I think it looks concerning that the 1st half we dominated and 2nd not so much.  We looked like a different team.  

Trying to be vanilla to not show much?

OL tired?

Play calling?

Adjustments?

Refs and penalties?

I'll bet Deion yelled at the defense real hard at halftime. They came out with even more determination to stop the run, but they had been bringing a blitz all game.

Again, Satterfield called some good plays to try to skirt just outside of the blitz. Some of the plays worked, and some Colorado just executed better on. They've got some speed on defense, for sure.

If we want to take shots downfield I think we really should look at getting Lloyd & Barney involved more. Scare the other team with some downfield speed, you know?

Yeah they were loading the box to stuff the run.  Nebraska ran anyway.  But look at the situation.  Nebraska was up 4 scores with the defense dominating.

I also wasn't completely surprised Colorado was able to clamp down on the run.  They shut down NDSU's runningbacks.  It was the NDSU's QB run game against man coverage that was able to do something on the ground.

This is good analysis.

We ran a toss or two in the second half that looked good. We also had that fake-jet-sweep-to-counter handoff play that was decent. Satterfield gets it, I think he really does. But he needs to get just a little bit better just like the rest of the offense and then I think the "Illinois'" and the "Indiana's" are just flat out going to have a very hard time beating us.

This is what I want… I don’t want Nebraska to be in dog fights against 3-4 Purdue. Like once a year is okay, that happened even with Osborne. Although most of the time it was against an 8 win team or Daunte Culpepper.

For the most part, it wasn't really anything Colorado did. It was mainly a combination of going more conservative in the second half and some seriously questionable officiating. (For as many questionable flags as there were, there were at least as many that should have been flagged and weren't.)

 
Just curious…no one thinks that our special teams are a concern? Blocked punt, missed field goal, oh help me God points after, and unimaginative returns! I am willing to bet that special teams will end up costing us a game or two this season. Hope I am wrong.

Missing field goals is absolutely a concern. The look on Rhule's face on that miss said a lot.

The tipped punt will probably be an anomaly down the stretch.

I also think that with the counter play that gashed them so bad in the first half, the defensive coaches couldn't get a good visualization on how to attack it until they got into the locker room at half time. We still had a few good runs with that, but they also played it much better.
