What food won’t you eat because of it’s texture?

Got the idea for this topic from a Buzz Feed article.

Mine is red kidney beans. Reminds me of biting into a cockroach. Tough and dark on the outside, squishy mushy on the inside. I will eat all manner of other beans, pintos etc. but not kidney beans. I’ll pick every last one out of chili. I don’t use them in my chili.

Canned peas are another one. For some reason my mom made those gross LeSueur canned peas about once every 2-3 weeks when I was a kid and you had to clean your plate before you could leave the table. I found numerous ways of getting rid of those things without actually eating them. The lasting legacy was, I never forced my kids to eat anything they didn’t want to. May have made them try a few things but after that it was up to them.

100% can peas

Almost every friday we had fish sticks with can peas as a side. 🤮😭

The other fridays we had tunafish sandwiches with canned peas and heavy mayo. 🥴

I still laugh and shutter how much torture that was lol

However, frozen green peas are delicious ! and I wish we went there instead of those awful army green cann peas in processed water lol

I love raw vegetables. Eat them every week. Cold raw Carrots. Celery. Tomatoes. Cauliflower and some salt or with dip. Etc, etc.... delicious.

But I cannot stand cooked carrots, cooked celery, cooked tomatoes. The taste and texture of carrots celery tomato was awful as a child and I never grew into it. Still makes me gag a little bit just thinking about it LOL

I get most of these even if I don’t agree.

Shredded coconut is annoying but it’s good so. One of my favorites is German Chocolate cake and it’s in the frosting.

Mushrooms…I get it but I absolutely love mushrooms. I would give up eating meat before I would mushrooms.

Hummus and grits. Don’t eat enough of either one to really care about the sandy texture. But that lack of flavor, you gotta do quite a bit to turn them into anything worthwhile.

Watermelon can feel strange but it’s watermelon…not like I’m not gonna eat it.

And yes, over cooked to the point of being mushy veggies are kinda gross.
