Jimmy and/or Deng, plus draft pick(s).For draft picks and/or which players are rumored to be involved? The Bulls and the Timberwolves have supposedly been in trade talks for Kevin Love for a time now. I don't know if there's any concrete evidence to support that, but it seems to be widely believed.Hell no on Garnett! I can't stand him first but mostly he just plain sucks these days. On Kobe, I think he still has something left. I'd take him shooting 20 jumpers a game over Rose. Maybe a 3 year deal. He is still a plus defender and a guy that demands a double team. I think he was still at 25 or so points this year. That's nothing to snort at!I get what you're saying, but I have to disagree. I don't want old guys like Kobe or Kevin Garnett on this team, even if we can get them. What's the point? They've got ttwo maybe three years left in the league and then you've gotta start from square one again. Let's just work on developing the young guys like Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Malcom Thomas, Marquis Teague, and maybe Kevin Love.As long as they want to play defense they are a second tier team. As long as the east is weak sans Miami and Indiana they will always be looked at as an elite team in the east but its a mirage. With Rose preinjury they can beat anyone in a 7 game series. They just won't be able to beat 3 good teams in a row in order to win a title. They need some scorers at the expense of a little defense. Kevin Love would be nice but he's not a guy that breaks you down in the final seconds of a tied game. If I was Kobe id ask for a trade to Chicago. I think he could win a title with that team.
You keep mentioning K Love. Is he rumored to want out(wouldn't blame him) or is he just first on your wish list?
Because they found his better replacement in Butler. The kid's a stud. Why do you think Deng needs to go? He's a top 10 SF and one of the best on-ball defenders in the league. I would definitely trade him, if the price was right, but I don't just wanna dump him off for some unproven players.I think Deng and Boozer ought to both be gone. Then pick up a quality big man and a couple of promising rookies. I think that's a championship caliber roster.
I want to slap you for this comment. Championship teams play defense. That's all there is to it.As long as they want to play defense they are a second tier team.
While I think Jimmy is Deng's eventual replacement, I think we need to milk Deng for as long as he's worth and have Jimmy at the two. Can you imagine the perimeter defense with D-Rose, Jimmy, Deng, Taj, and Noah on the court? That's scary for opposing teams.Because they found his better replacement in Butler. Im saying that the only reason they are still considered a second tier team is cause of their defense. Read the full post.I want to slap you for this comment. Championship teams play defense. That's all there is to it.As long as they want to play defense they are a second tier team.
Are you saying that Chicago is second tier because they focus too much on defense? Im saying that the only reason they are as good as they are is cause of their D. I don't think they are the same caliber as Miami, OKC, SA, etc. the reason some pundits think they are a top echelon team is cause IMO the east is horrible. And I'm talking about a Bulls team with a healthy Rose. So to sum up, cause I was called out by Huskershark for it. I think the Bulls are a second tier team because of their D. If they weren't so good on D, I'd put them in the bottom half of the East. Are you saying that Chicago is second tier because they focus too much on defense? Ah, I see now. You make some good points, but I'm going to have to disagree. With a healthy Derrick Rose the past two seasons, Chicago had the best record in the NBA. Without him (plus Deng, Kirk, Noah, Rip, and Taj for large parts of the season), they made it to the second round of the playoffs. This team can win championships if everyone is healthy. The problem is that that hasn't happened since Tom Thibodeau has been in Chicago.Im saying that the only reason they are as good as they are is cause of their D. I don't think a team can ever focus too much on D. I just think they need to sacrifice a couple defensive minded guys for some players that can get their own shot and put the ball in the hoop. Thus my Kobe theory.
That's basically my thoughts in a nutshell. Good post.Ah, I see now. You make some good points, but I'm going to have to disagree. Don't get me wrong, I would take Kobe over any other SG in the league, but I don't really want him on the Bulls. He's bad for chemistry, and that's something the Bulls have tons of. I wouldn't risk ruining how well these guys work together for one player. This goes back to my weak Eastern Conference argument. I just don't see this team as is and healthy being able to beat say Indy then Miami then OkC or SA or whoever. They just don't have enough offense. This is a Bulls team that has a propensity to struggle scoring 60 sometimes. Wrap your mind around the Black Mamba playing for the Bulls. He's still a hell of a defender and can get you 40 some nights! This takes a few eyes off of Rose and gives you another slasher that gets easy point blank buckets for the bigs. Kinda like how OKC uses Durant and Westbrook. Plenty of shots to go around. I also think Kobe has something to prove.
PG - D Rose
SG - Kobe
SF - Deng
PF - Booze
C - Noah
C'mon, you gotta get excited about that starting 5! I give Chicago the edge at every spot over Miami but SF and PF(Lebron and Bosh).
