What you were most Impressed/Unimpressed by...

I'll chime in on the least impressed with Niles Paul. The guy has talent, but not in ball protection. He was swinging the ball around, running with it on the inside with defenders rather than cradled in his outside arm. I'm hoping he works on it, but I bet his ball handling bites us in the @$$ at least once this year.

Edit: And yes - most impressed with Martinez & David. I'm looking forward to seeing both of them play more this year.

Almost forgot. Biggest disappointment may have been KO coverage. Just look at WKU’s field position on the four kickoffs in the first half: 25, 37, 48, 50. Pathetic. Must have got an earful at halftime. Our 2nd half kickoff coverage was a LOT better.
You beat me to the punch, nuance. I noticed this during the game, and was like...

And it should be noted Bo said he thought the special teams was average at best.

Definitely look for that to change very quickly.

Impressed: Rex Burkhead running like his life depended on it. Martinez surprised EVERYBODY with his running ability in an actual game and his 3 TD's. LaVonte David was everywhere and played like he was possessed.

Unimpressed: Defense in the 2nd half cause they seemed to slack off and got way to comfortable. Offensive line allowing WKU to man handle them at times. TURNOVERS both Paul and PJ Smith were holding the ball like it was a plastic sack with baby poo in it. Tuck that ball under your armpit and close to your chest while running with the football.

Other than that it was great to absorb the atmosphere again and can't wait till next weeks game. The Huskers played a good game yesterday but there are areas to improve on which our Huskers will accomplish this season.
:yeah

To be quite honest, I was most impressed by Cody Green. I've been a huge Martinez backer, and admittedly hating on Green since the red-white game. I was pleasantly surprised to see he's made tons of progress. He still stares down his receivers every once in a while. But, he seemed much more poised, made great decisions (eg. running hard to get a 1st down rather than throw into double coverage), threw precise passes and best of all, he proved himself to be a leader capable of moving the chains and getting us in the endzone.

I really really want to see both of these guys in the pressure cooker b/c that's the true test for a QB. It's much easier as a QB when you have a big lead b/c you're comfortable. But what about those times when your team is down and it's on your shoulders to get the lead?

Ask me that question, and I still think Martinez will perform better b/c Green's been shaky in those situations in the past. However, I'm so impressed with how Green played, I definitely think he's much closer than I originally thought to taking the reigns of this team. That's especially impressive considering how well Martinez played.

Yes, it usualy looked like no one was there until the returner hit the 20 yard line even if he took it out of endzone 5 yards in.

I was impressed the two time Austin Jones ran the ball. He seemed to have a burst that hasnt been around for awhile.

You mean other than T-Mart, Helu and Rex. I'd say these three still hit the holes quicker than Jones, hence their ample PT.

And while we're talking about bursts, I gotta say I was not at all impressed with Robinson. He's a big, physical back, but he has absolutely no burst when it comes to cutting upfield compared to the 4 mentioned above. I remember one play in particular in which Tray had a great opening for a 15+ yard gain, but his slow cut got him tackled after 2 or 3 yards instead. No doubt Helu or Rex...or even Jones woulda turned that into big yards.
