Who's our next coach?

Honest question. Rhule has Indy’ money, does he turn NU around like Cig did at Indiana? I’m going to say no. A few reason:
Cig, career wise wins is north of .750.
Rhule, counting NFL, is south of .500
Cig staff has been together 10+ years
Rhule in 3 years has lost DC/DL/safety coach, demoted OC, fired OL coach, fired DC, fired DL coach, hired DT coach and DE coach, fired ST coach, hired ST coach and still has several assistants in question. And as @TGHusker mentioned this is Rhule’s 1st college stay over 3 years. No track record of his success past 3 years other than NFL.

Money helps. No doubt. But coaching matters. NU has done well recruiting in B1G rankings, but still get kicked in the teeth. We can recruit, we just can’t develop.

Throw all the money you want into your NASCAR vehicle, but average driver and pit crew, you’re still average at best.

Insert any other coach and ask the same question. The answer is always no because the games best coaches have had that kind of money before and nobody has ever done what he has. Just stop.

Any other coach? Come on man. You think Mark Cuban bought that 2024 Indy team? Who just hired a not to far removed FCS coach to coach one of the worst programs in college. People think Indy is cheating with the way the DB jumped that route against Oregon. That’s coaching. Film work. Development. Recruiting. That’s the cheat code.

People talk about money all they want, but give Rhule his multi million dollars and he still won’t win. Hope he proves me wrong. Truly do. Because it means my Huskers win. We have instability on the staff. Glad he’s firing dudes. But he hired them. Easy to blame his lack of success on money and say other coaches win because of money when attend of the day we hired a sub .500 coach.

Guys have been getting paid under the table since the dawn of time. TO, Bryant, Saban, Urb, Devaney, Stoops, Switzer, insert any name here, but they’re all great coaches. They won in spite of millions of dollars to pay players. Because of great coaching, development and recruitment.

If I miss understood your point, apologies up front. I think that now, great coaching first and money 2nd will win. Indy’s age and experience helped as well. Development, maturity, experience, more year in and S&C program etc.

Exactly. Rhules continued preaching of how young our team was is going to age real well when(if) all these young guys are juniors and seniors and none of them are NFL bound because they either 1) haven’t been developed and coached well or 2) transferred out in order to get better developed and coached.

Any other coach than Rhule... seriously man follow along. Cig has done something nobody else has ever done, regardless of money. Quit comparing our coach, or any other to him.

I quoted my 1st post that initiated this exchange. Posters talking about money and success and teams spending money. Hence Rhule vs Cig and money. Posters thinking money can "buy" a team and/or championships. I disagree. Does it help? Hell yea, Indy won with Cig and his coaching resume.

My whole point being, throw Mark Cuban money at any team you want. Hell throw Cody Campbell's TT money at any team you want and unless the coach is elite, you won't win the NC. My comments are more in defense of Cig and what he has accomplished in spite of Indy's history, facilities, fan base, etc...I lived in Indy for a few years and had no idea WTH a hoosier was, that the Bison was the actual mascot, and that they had a football team.....I remember Bobby Knight and the movie "Breaking Away", but not football. Yet in spite of that Cig came in and won.

At the end of the day, I think we are in support of Cig and his coaching acumen and that his success was accomplished sans benefit of a huge war chest. Mark Cuban was silent on Indy until this season. The issue is I compared him to Rhule, which I do not think will turn this program around. As opposed to you, who I assume that thinks he will. Again, I hope he does. Because it means the Huskers do well. Just don't think he will.
