Not a gift, but a horror story I wouldn't wish on anyone......this is what happen to my brother and family.
ice storm on 23rd, knocking down tons of tree limbs and jeopardizing power lines. snowing and blizzard conditions on 24th. He lives only 1.5 hours away and cancelled trip home for Christmas day.
Power goes off Christmas Eve. His three boys (11-9-4) wake up at 5:30 am , only to be sent back to bed because of no electricity/lights to see what Santa had brought. Temp in house drops drastically. By mid-morning, they move to local "church hall" with small generator to run heat, but no tv, radio, computer, etc.
He spends day "rescuing" the elderly and taking them to nearby towns (one lady is 103 years old, and her house was 43 degrees)....
mid-afternoon, he is now spending Christmas day with another family in the "hall", trying to fix food and they lose water. By evening, he is sharing the hall with 35 other community members in 1 room full of kids and parents, one tv, and nothing else to do.
They leave hall at 10 pm to go to nearby town to friends. 11 year old becomes ill with stomach flu, they head home to house with no electricity. At 11, electricity comes on , but they lose water again. Midway through night, his wife becomes ill with stomach flu. Now 2 people sick, with NO WATER for toilets, etc...
As of this morning, still no water and still 2 sick people. Definately feel sorry for them. Wouldn't wish the last 2 1/2 days experience on anyone.
