Would you want to see Nebraska play Boise State in a home and home?

I say hell yes!!!! I would love to stomp their a$$es and leave their blue smurf turf field covered in red from the beating they would take from us.
atta boy! make em bleed red!! show them that smurfs are really huskers trying to get out of their blue bodies!

:bat

Nothing is gained by playing Boise State, they don't have a talent base to take from. Schedule teams from the SE and AZ and Cal, Ohio, PA and TX and you can draw some talent.

Boise St needs to enjoy this ride while they can because as soon as somebody realizes Chris Peterson is actually a good coach and he is the reason they've been so successful the past few years, higher echelon schools will come a calling.
we once thought the same thing of Hawkins......remember?

Play Boise State in Memorial? Hell Yes.

Play Boise State on Smurf Turf? Um do we want to play at a highschool gimmick field when we can play in front of 85k fans?
Why wouldn't you want the Huskers to return a game at Boise State?

Not up for the challenge?

It only seats ~35K....so it should be an easy win, right?

It has nothing to do with it being a "challenge" and everything to do with not wanting to go to the middle of nowhere where we don't recruit to play in front of 35k people when we can A. play in front of 85k at home or B. play a big name team on the road in an area where we actually get kids from and get better exposure for it.
Why does everything have to be about recruiting or gaining exposure? Can't a great game simply be an end in itself?

Not in today's' environment when we're already fighting the fact that we aren't located in a recruiting hotbed. No, unfortunately it can not. Not if we want to get back to winning championships it can't anyways.
Well count me out of that "football as business" mindset. If everything must be looked at as a means to future success than you'll lose the ability to enjoy the success once it comes. Plus I don't think playing meaningful games will actually hurt exposure or recruiting in the long term because as it will build your reputation. But either way, enjoying a great matchup, win or lose, is of far more value than using the schedule as a means to possibly increasing your title hopes years down the road.

I think some of you guys aren't giving credit to what BSU has done. Like one poster said, over the last few years they have been a much better team than us. If we played right now it'd be a close game.

BSU has a lot of talent and a great coaching staff. We can't forget, a lot of people doubted and reamed BSU before their BCS win over Oklahoma. Very few people saw that as a possibility, but it happened. Can't underestimate them.

At this point in time we want nothing to do with them. It is a no win situation as robsker has stated.

Coach Osborne wants nothing to do with them is my guess. Looking at our schedule, they are not down the food chain far enough to be considered.

We will play one BCS team that is considered a top ten program it looks like.

Then KState the rest of it.

Boise is out of our league at this time.

And as another person stated there is absolutely no reason to go to Boise, we would only be helping their cause no matter the outcome. And as much as most of us hate the football business quote it is spot on.

Whether we could beat them is of little importance. Trust me mention Boise State to Oklahoma and see the reaction.

We need to return to something close to what we were, before we even consider taking on the Broncos.

My guess is if we gave up 22 first downs and 358 yards of offense we would not be on the winning side of Boise State. There is a lot of work to be done, not even close at this time.

They have score board. Nothing more to say.

If I were TO, I would only consider a 2 homes and one road. Then Boise gets a marquee name and NU gets the cash form a 2-1

Hell yes!!! Why should Nebraska fear a team from the Weak a$$ Conference (WAC) as I like to call it? Living in Reno which is deep in the heart of WAC country, Boise State is the top notch team that the University of Nevada considers a rival (and usually plays them close). Yes, this is the same Nevada team that Nebraska beat down 52-17 in '07 with a 5-7 record so bring Boise State to Lincoln early so that we can end the talk of BCS aspirations because the WAC doesn't have anyone to offer up as a true opponent.
