Dana Holgorsen Hired as Offensive Coordinator

In this age of college football, the Holgorsen move could bite Nebraska in the butt BIG TIME. Here’s the scenario:

Holgorsen impressively turns the offense on in these final games. Obviously that means that Dylan has an impressive turnaround under his short tutelage. Let’s say Dylan REALLY likes Holgorsen and before next season Holgorsen skips off to another university. You don’t think that Dylan might be tempted to follow him?
Let's get past the "impressive turnaround" portion before anything else. Haven't been to a bowl in nearly a decade now after all.

This.  So much this.  Turning around starts with what used to be such a simple task for teams with a pulse.  Get 6 wins and get the proverbial bowl game.  Kids we are recruiting now, were like 8-9 last time we went to a bowl....Bowling is the only tangible, brutally ugly and honest benchmark of improvement.  Nothing else matters.  Stats, numbers, accolades, all B1G team, NFL drafts etc.....W-L is all that shows we are getting better. Get the W's and EVERYTHING else falls into place.  I am so sick of continuing to find any glimmer of hope in a subpar season year after year after year.  3 to get 1. That's it.  Time to live, breath and exemplify Rhule's catchy, "If we die, we die".

If I start worrying about what happens if we succeed then I need somebody to stop by and punch me in the face, LOL.

Back in my gung-ho fantasy football days I can across a passing chart of Geno Smith coming out of college ahead of the NFL draft, I can’t find it though.

It broke the field into right, left, middle and then behind LOS, 0-5yds, 5-10, 10-20, 20+. The amount of attempts <5yds and behind the LOS was staggering. It makes me wonder if that’s what we’ll be seeing next year.

(Geno was like 75% of total completions <5yds and behind the LOS. It was a no-brainer he didn’t adapt well to the NFL.)

We looked a little more explosive, and Dylan had an impressive completion percentage but overall it was more of the same. Missed throws, a forced a INT. We gash teams for big runs and then decide to just forget we can run and throw ourselves to the sideline.

I did like that the TEs were more involved though. I have no idea why we aren't seeing more HH when he busted big runs.

Dana’s running game uses counters and different gap schemes. Our OL seems to reach to much, limited bend and ability to pull or kick out. He gets a pass. Current OL isn’t athletic enough for his running game.  We also have no bell cow back.  Best one gets a carry or 2 and goes milk carton.
