Rhule finally feels like the "right coach" for Nebraska

I think there is a level of winning where you're basically untouchable, and can be unnecessarily combative without it risking your job. Bo clearly wasn't quite there.

I think if Rhule starts winning 9 or 10 every year then he'll be able to coach here as long as he wants. He's not going to make his job harder than it has to be by burning every bridge in sight.

Well put. Even though there was more "there" in terms of know how with B.P. than some of the others. I do think they all had potential here, with our resources, but some fizzled and some wrecked it to a point needing years to repair. I think Matt is full on in repair mode and doing fine. Bo was one of the ones who just had something in his sensibilities that was contrary to professionalism needed in big resource laden programs to succeed.

If he gets to that level of success, he does not have the temperament that was Pelini's biggest flaw: He is passionate but he clearly can control himself. So if he gets to that level of success, I'd see him hitting higher levels than that. And goodness knows we all have waited a long time for that.

I don't want to get myself too excited, but with all the time and resources that are put into this program, it has to pay off eventually, it just has to.

It was fine at the time. But my opinion of the style of a Bo coached is team was emotional and reactionary and not so much disciplined and consistent. Things that might not pass intense video scrutiny.

The emotion was something that both was a strength and weakness of his teams. When they were on, they were on. When they were off, they were off.

"Being emotional" is not a reviewable play, so we still don't know what the hell you're talking about.
 
I think it is fair to say that fans have a hard time giving Bo credit for two reasons.

1. He did not want to give us HJ's while looking into our eyes and telling us that we were the best fans ever.

2. He got his a$$ handed to him like 5-6 different times.

With that said there are just a FEW things that could have and should have changed it all.

1. No time should have been put back on the clock vs UT. We know the ball hits the ground with about a second left but the guy in the bad khaki pants blocks the view so we never actually see it hit the ground. The ref assumed (rightfully so because of physics) that the ball hit the ground but that is not how replay works. You either do see it happen or you do not. They finish the season with 11 wins.

2. Suh should have won the Heisman. No explanation needed.

how much does credit does Bo deserve for Suh, who was recruited by Callahan. Suh would have developed himself.

But he should get more credit for recruiting a three star Rex Burkhead- and there were others as well.

Fans are overreaching. I think this was the catalyst for his ultimate demise and I was always icky about the invasion of privacy/secret recording of a highly emotional man, who we knew was a hothead, spewing to his brother after a huge win. I thought it nothing but a Bo-ism.
