Nebraska wins The Battle for NU! What did we learn????

So, did I see this right? The OL from NW drives our defender 10 yards out of bounds.. Our guy throws him off, and both guys are flagged? WTH??

Yeah. Hits out of bounds, body slams, cheap shots all over, dragging down defenders type holding, that got the crowd going with no calls. Then they started in with the bad calls.

I thought for sure they call NE on that pass to end the game. But I'm glad they sucked then too.

It’s like some people want our result to be consistent with their view of what the team is.
Season 5 Nbc GIF by The Office

Net score by quarter for the year:
1 - +41
2 - +54
3 - -10
4 - +28

Net score by quarter against Power 4 teams:
1 - +15
2 - +9
3 - -38
4 - +7

And the -38 includes the KO TD return today.

Halftime adjustments and all...

The best part is how confused they were at times explaining the call. The one off side by NE took something like 5 minutes to sort out They constantly confused Nebraska and Northwestern.

That was insane. NW gained 5 yards and a 1st down on the run when we were offsides. It took the refs 2 or 3 minutes to decide if the penalty was going to be accepted. And none of it mattered since the ball was going to be at the same spot and it was going to be 1st down either way.

So we "learned" a lesson (after two dozen years in the business), bemoaned that we didn't learn it earlier, promptly threw it out the window and now figured out it actually works after all.

Solid track record here of being anything but "run the damn ball" guy.

But given our struggles in the passing game the past two games, I'd love to come out against USC with a lead blocker and just feed the ball to Emmett over and over until they stop it.

I see no reason currently to get us into spots where we're calling deep drop back pass plays on 1st down.

As I get to know Holgorsen's style more, I do think he's huge on believing he needs to call a play situationally that the other team isn't expecting. I don't think that's going all that well.

I think I'm going to go ahead and take Michigan as Dylan's best game this year. The one where, against a ranked opponent with a great defense, he went for 308 yards, 3 TD's, and only one turnover.

But, I guess that's why coach gets paid literal movie star money to coach the team.

We’re neither as good as we thought we were before Minnesota and not as bad as we thought after that game.

Here's my take on your take: Talent-wise on offense, I thought/think we we're pretty good before and after Minnesota.

Taking out sack yardage, against the Gophers we rushed for 70 yards. Johnson got 14 carries in that game.

Today, Johnson gets 27 carries and we rushed for 155 yards.

Not shocking at all that leaning on the run game helps get us a win in another ugly conference matchup. I think coaching was a big problem in the Minnesota game and it's frustrating.

People are complaining about so many things. I think they need to take a step back and celebrate the good stuff.

We won against the number 3 team in the B1G. Names don't mean anything... see Indiana. Northwestern is a solid, well coached team, and we should celebrate the win.

Our offense and special teams just put up 28 points against a B1G team that pitched a shutout last week and has held most teams to a lower point total.

Our offensive line played a much better game against a defense that has been playing fantastic. Huge props imo.

Special teams scored a touchdown... massive impact on how teams will play against us going forward... ie the kickoff out of bounds.

That was likely the worst officiated game I game witnessed in person... and we still won.

Arch wilson is a damn weapon. He played a huge role in the win.

I caught a T shirt for the first time ever lol. Nice to have player/coach seats.
