Shocked its Thursday and have only had 1 hit the portal. Have to assume Rhule/staff has had meetings with most guys by now.

I mean we haven't even heard any rumors besides Dylan. And I think McGahee was rumored when it was decided he was redshirting.

No one can officially hit the portal until January 2nd, so unless there are intentional leaks or rumors, we aren't getting news probably until then.

You are correct, but many will announce that they "will" enter the portal and whether legal or not, many will already know exactly where they are headed.

I follow, all I was saying was a lot of guys just may not announce anything until that day/they already signed with a new team. Less news is what I expect I suppose.

Fran Brown had an interesting take on those types of transfers. He's not wrong, but this quote will probably be brought up against him in recruiting. Calling your backups "spit" indirectly is a hilarious but questionable choice. Again I don't think he's wrong, the portal is full of guys mad that they aren't playing and most of them aren't from your playoff schools where they could be good players with monsters ahead of them.

Ah fair enough, that's my bad on the interpretation. Still will be interesting to see how it works out, I don't think either extreme of focusing exclusively on the portal (Colorado) or exclusively on HS recruiting (Clemson) has worked. Small sample sizes though, and I think good coaching staffs can probably amke either one work.

I expect EJ to announce fairly soon about declaring for draft and skipping the bowl. Smoke has really died down about Dylan, so I am not convinced he will leave. 3 weeks ago , Benning said publicly that Dylan had one foot out the door. Since then TJ struggled against good DC . Talk has died down. Maybe DR isn’t as threatened or Rhule realizes how more prepared DR is than TJ and talked him off the ledge (ie $$)

Does Vegas have odds on Dylan staying (or leaving). I like the kid. He’s worked his butt off in the PR department for us. I wonder too about the criticisms of him. Except for being slow- that one’s irrefutable. But how much of him being in the pocket too long, was actually on the receivers not getting open? Can’t tell that on TV.

And this talk about leaving started when Lateef had the one good game vs UCLA and fans vocally abandoned team Raiola. Do jealousy/hurt feelings fuel this the leaving rumor?

I think you're going to see 2-4 from the OL & DL leave. A LB or 2 and a few more DBs. At this point, if you're Prude, Prescott, Rahmir Stewart, Knutson, Jaylen George and maybe even a Sam Sledge, and you're not projected to start next year, it's time to leave.

(I think they should be prepping Sledge to be next in line after Rocco and not be sitting behind Evans for another year.)

What ever happened to the basic Read-Option play?

With Lateaf it should be called 2-3 times a quarter. If works fairly well, run Read-Option more. He doesn't have to keep it each time, but be smart enough to pull it and run. It could also open up play-action pass as well.

Just simple plays to spread out the Iowa defense and keep them on their toes, and out of the box.

See this statement ( you’re not projected to start, it’s time to leave) is exactly what’s wrong. And exactly what Fran Brown and lot of these coaches are starting to say.

Stay your a$$ there and work. Some of you guys bitxh we ain’t developing guy. Developing doesn’t happen over night for everyone. We need these guys to stick around and develop and build some thing. Prude was a beast in a tough a$$ Texas Bigh school division and District. Have 0 doubt with time he will be good. But again who knows.
