Dylan Raiola

I don’t think we should ignore the fact that he goes into the offseason as the number 1 guy and all attention for development is on him rather than Raiola. Holgorsen gets to build a playbook FOR HIM, Wade gets the OL to take the next step, and we can see what Thomas will do with him without the distraction of Raiola.
Fans give way too much credence to "development", when really it's just the coordinator and coaches putting players in the right place and calling plays that suit them.

TJ isn't going to magically get significantly better. He's a G5 QB, a really solid backup at a place like Nebraska.

If he's the starter next year, this program is in trouble. They'll be looking at a 3-9 or 4-8 record against a difficult schedule.

Nope, not me. Give TJ the same support and treatment that DR had been given from the staff with the #1 practice reps through next year's first game, plus time working with WRs off season etc... And 3 cupcake games to start the year.... That kind of confidence could turn into something really good.

Backup plan would be at least talk to some portal QBs
We saw TJ against good teams and it was a disaster.

Next year, he won't have the luxury of handing the ball off to an All-American RB either. TJ being the guy would be an unmitigated disaster, unless the goal is to fire Rhule and move on sooner rather than later.

It is just a bad look. Talk show guys say this will be a huge negative in recruiting and retention. Says DR brought guys who chose Nebraska bc of him. Portal guys came here to play with him. They are saying that if our top recruit in recent years, who seemed to bleed red, one of highest paid player in the country wants to leave…. They say that is huge red flag to future stars. Not my words!!!!
Hopefully $$$ talks and we spend it

At this point with how often he has transferred I don't think anyone will think anything of it in that sense.

Look at how many times Dylan transferred in high school. The signs were there for anyone recruiting him.

Is he a talented QB? - Yes he is.
Is he a good teammate? - I would say yes & no.

I wish the kid the absolute best of luck in his future. NEBRASKA moves forward.

On one hand, yes. On the other, he was committed to two other schools before he flipped to us last minute - it's not like he "seemed to bleed red". Also, we have a highly rated 2027 QB who is actively peer recruiting for us, so either you want a guy like that or you don't. Just how the cookie crumbles.

I would like to see us moneyball at QB and build a solid foundation in the trenches - TJ (or another portal QB) can succeed with a better OLine.

Disaster? That is so wrong to think.

TJ went 13-15 in his first start - on the road.
TJ played at Penn State in his 2nd career start in November.
Then 6 days later he got hurt against Iowa in his third start.
Even his linemen were banged up, and the entire defense play bad.

I don't think your evaluation for a true freshmen QB is taking into full consideration of all of the optics.

...I won't lol. I won't wish him any ill but these guys make millions now, we don't have to keep doing the "These are poor college kids" thing.
No Im rooting for him bc he did his best for us. You can say he was a prima donna but all I can go off of is that he did everything the coaches asked him to do while trying to uplift the team with the players he had.
