2025-2026 Portal Updates

We need to let people know the cost of living is lower in Lincoln. Green Bay gets some guys because it is cheap to live here.

No,w Nebraska needs to drop its income tax.

So how close are we to just dropping the whole college thing and making this sport a minor league for the NFL?

Are players still going to class? When they change colleges, do their credits transfer and their program majors align? Are scholarships meaningless if they don't lead to graduation and are dwarfed by NIL income? If these questions sound naive and silly, I guess we should just stop calling it college football.

It would actually be a real head-scratcher for Lateef to get upset and enter the portal if a QB we pull in from the portal in the offseason has a lower class status than a junior.

Because like...Raiola was going to be a junior.

"We ain't come here to play school!"

we had a large contingent of fans saying that TJ was better than Dylan. why would we need to bring in anything other than a backup if all those fans were correct?
Because TJ may not be able to improve upon Haarburg's 60% winning percentage just like DR couldn't. We wouldn't want to put all of our eggs in one, very expensive, basket.

...at least not again.

No offense, but the Haarbeg winning percentage argument is ridiculous. He got to start against La Tech (3-9), Rocky Lombardi-led Northern Illinois (7-6), Michigan (15-0*), Illinois (5-7), Northwestern (8-5) Purdue (4-8), Michigan State (4-8), and Maryland (8-5). That sure looks like a stretch that most of our QBs would have gone 5-3 or better in.

For some additional context, NW won 4 straight at the end of the year to end up 8-5 - they were 4-4 coming off a 3 point home win over Howard when we played them, and it took an incredible defensive performance to overcome Haarberg's picks. We lost to 4-8 MSU. And while Maryland went 8-5, we got them coming into Lincoln on a 4-game losing streak in full Locksley October/November meltdown mode. Haarberg got hurt early, but was also 1-5 passing and had 2 carries for a combined 0 yards.
