Portal QBs

I would call him one of the better options available nationally. None of us have any idea what the plan was all along. Lot of click bait out there but who knows what to actually believe.

I honestly think some people just find more flaws when a player becomes a Husker. Colandrea was offensive player of the year for an entire conference and had 4000 total yards and 33 TDs. If you told people about a QB like that being available before the portal everyone would have said to go get him. I saw a lot of people very high on Colton Joseph who had less yards and more turnovers this season.

...and they'll all be in/out according to short term opportunities. Fans will not form emotional connections to players, and eventually not to teams either...

The downward spiral is accelerating.

The greed will kill the sport at the college level, and massively reform all collegiate athletics.

That is my kids. They went to UNL during the worst Frost years. They have no attachment to football there. The tickets were limited, the location of the student section sucks, the football was bad. The best game experience they remember was the Akron storm canceled game. Because the stadium blasted music and the students partied in the rain before taking over the field.

Neither is interested in tickets, attending games, and certainly not donating money. They couldn't name a player on the team before the portal process, now few of us can.

If this keeps up much longer, UNL will need to move students back to the 50 yard line and charge $7 a game like when I went.

I agree with this.

One other thing about the bold as well is, I'm not sure our fan base has entirely recognized the talent & quality of B1G defenses, either. It's the best conference in terms of defense top-to-bottom, for sure.

The current state of cfb with nil and portal will be the death of the sellout streak, at the least, more than anything else imo

We could look at DII QBs that got to the championship game. It seems to have worked for Ole Miss with Chambliss. A "small" 6'1" 200 lb guy that plays sandlot ball and wins games.

i would assume so. but probably only for depth...not to compete for a starting spot. there are approximately 160 qb's out there still
Actually, just thought of something. We have two scholarship QBs. We need another for depth. You’re not going to convince and of the top QBs in the portal to come for that.

There aren’t 160 P4 or even G5 teams looking for starting QBs. So, now, we should be looking at the next tier in the portal. Maybe a possibly good QB that’s a true freshman right now that didn’t get picked up…..but has a lot of upside.

Saw Washington was suing and/or trying to collect the money they just gave him for staying the 1st time. I think this might also be the future. Offer? Accept? Leave? Breach of contract....Be interesting to see what comes of this.
I thought about this with Minchey. But, it turns out he never signed so no money was exchanged….im guessing.

Make sure the document they sign is a contract. One year through the bowl no sitting out as a minimum.

If they don't play for any reason (injury or benching), make them kiss babies in the crowd and do commercials for the University.

If they won't do that for more money in a year than most make in a lifetime, move on to a better person who may be a slightly less productive individual player. Build a better team.
