Dylan Raiola

Agreed. Others will blitz, but Oregon receivers create separation much better than our receivers have which will allow Dylan to carve them up.

I've seen a few criticize his ability to throw the deep ball, but can't agree with that. Deep passes only work if the receivers can get open and catch the ball. Neyor didn't win a ton of the 50/50 balls that he should have. Key, Barney, & Hunter are possession receivers focused on catching within 5-15 yards of the LOS. We severely missed Jaylen Lloyd's ability to take the top off the defense last year. If the only receivers we have on the roster are possession guys, the secondary compresses and our the QB is relegated to nothing deep downfield. Mix in a line that was sporadic and it's a rough combination.
We are missing recievers that go up and win contested balls and a QB that would throw to a spot that gave them the best chance at winning those contests. I watched Becker from IU outbattle the Oregon defenders over and over on contested throws. Stuff DR would have never thrown.

There were very few times we could throw a catchable ball to the back corner of the endzone. That's why our offense couldn't score very well against better teams when they got to the 20. No ability to thread the needle. Play us man, go after the QB, stuff the run. No quick passes to the endzone front or back before the reviever even turns.

It will be interesting to watch for progression.

At the end of the day, Dylan was a Me-guy. He was really all about himself. If you have heard Severe talk about it, he thought it was all an act. Given how he has handled moving on, it may be true. But in defense of Dylan, when your parent moves you from place to place, year to year, you never develop the ability to work with others and be a leader. That takes time. I wonder if the players at Nebraska even cared that he left.

100% correct

I wonder if the players at Nebraska even cared that he left.

Not sure of the exact quote, but McKewon has said in his podcast that the impression he got is that the team "liked" TJ more than Dylan.

Seems he precisely estimated his market value. While many Husker fans great underestimated it.
You don’t know that.

If he has to sit I think it’s extremely likely he had to settle. This is 100% a strong move by Oregon if they get “potential” sitting behind a starter.

Both sides win in my opinion. DR goes to a contender. I’m guessing at a reduced rate. Family ego is salvaged because it’s Oregon. Oregon is a better program than Nebraska. Oregon gets a back up they can watch for year before the 2027 portal.
