  1. Here we go, another group of coach names where people have to go to Google and look them up because they aren't BIG name coaches.

Bring in a no-name coach, watch him fail the first season, and people will come out of the woodwork complaining "we need to throw big money at a big name coach and stop being stingy with the checkbook!"

  2. Riley will never have a good running game. He didn't at OSU, it won't magically happen here.

In fairness once we got down 42-16 we had to pass every play. I'm more concerned with the lack of effectiveness when we do run it.

Yea, I think Shawn Watson said something about NEEDING to pass every down when your down by multiple scores. Just a little bit before he was fired.

  3. Truthfully I don't understand why we fired Bo, without having a guy in our sights, or at least the RIGHT guy in our pocket to take the job.

Can everyone agree that the fire of Bo Pelini/hire of Mike Riley was ill planned on Eichorst's part? I guess that defines Eichorst in a nutshell.

I think most people will agree that the Mike RIley hire left us scratching our heads and in some respect tripping over our feet to find good information on him to make ourselves feel like the Riley hire would work.

Now we find ourselves back to the same point every season, who can we hire who knows how to win?

Sorry fellow Husker fans, but it seems we ourselves are a needle skipping on a record player.

  4. Most want to compare what we have now to what we had before.

Let's admit it, Bo Pelini's first year at Nebraska was pretty rocky as well before things got turned around.

Remember the worst home loss to Missouri in 2008? And the heartbreaker against Texas Tech in overtime? And the 62 point blowout against Bob Stoops and Oklahoma, where the Huskers gave up the most points in a single quarter?

Things got better in the following years. Granted it didn't work out in the long run for the former coaching staff. Time will tell if this staff can go the distance even if it doesn't look like it now.

  5. I don't care how they would have gotten it, but Nebraska needed a 1st down to keep the ball out of the hands of Wisconsin. I knew in the 3rd quarter that when Wisconsin got the ball with the wind to their back, they were gonna come back and possibly win this game. They struggled against the wind all day,

Again, not surprised by the loss, kind of surprised how we lost.

  6. Every loss this season has been expected from me, especially when I predicted a 7 - 5 season. But Illinois was not apart of that loss column. Nor did I expect an Iowa team to beat WIsconsin on the road. I don't believe we will see a repeat of the Illinois game this season, as a coaching mistake like poor clock management can be easily fixed. You just wouldn't expect it from a coach that has many years of head coaching experience.

I would love to say 7 - 5 is still very much on the table, and realistically, it can be attained. This is college football in the Big Ten where anything is possible. But a 6 - 6 season seems more likely than anything else.

  7. In two games, our defense hasn't shown that they are better than they were last year. And on offense, we don't have Superman Ameer to bail out our offense.

That explains why the line is 4.5. But then again, Miami hasn't played anyone decent at all this year. Nebraska is their first true test.

  8. BYU was one of the games I was unsure about, season opener and with a new coach, not to mention BYU is a better team than folks want to give them credit for. I felt BYU would be a close game, and whoever scored last would win. Though i never would have thought a last second TD would be that last score. So I give credit where it is due, to BYU for the win.

I do think that Nebraska drops at least 4 or 5 more this season. With losses to Miami, Wisconsin, Michigan St. Minnesota, and possibly Iowa. I say possibly Iowa because just like the BYU game, it will be close and whoever scores last will win. Let's just hope if there is a last second TD, it goes for the Huskers.
