mwj98, I have the same thoughts. We beat the piss out of them, and according to every ESPN analyst, it was due to MSU's hangover, not how well we played. It's a little bit ridiculous, but I guess I'm used to it.
They do the exact opposite for the SEC. If one of the top SEC teams loses, it's because their conference is just too competitive, and the punishment that they have to endure week after week is just too much to deal with. This year, there are 2 good teams in the SEC and any other team in the conference could and probably would get beat by any team who has a winning record at this point in the season.
On the other hand, they have earned their reputation by winning championships, so that's what we need to do. Win the B1G championship this year and for years in the future and hopefully snag a national championship or two in the next 5-10 years

As much as he deserves it, I don't think he's flashy enough to win it, though it is stupid because as far as consistency goes, he's probably the best in the nation game in and game out.

1) Pelini knew what he was talking about all along
2) We CAN win the B1G. THIS YEAR!!!
3) If I were a QB, no matter how good, I would never throw the ball at my receiver if he is being defended by Fonzo, even if my guy looked WIDE open.
4) Lance Thorell can play solid football
5) Andrew Green doesn't suck!!!
6) Our O-Line can push around any team in the country at times. Give em another year or two with our young monsters comin up and that's scary for opponents!
7) We have MSU's number!

It began with Adi Kunalic sending so many kickoffs through the back of the endzone, and I actually wondered if this would continue this year since he is no longer here. I'm glad it did cuz I like it!

Clemson in the Gator Bowl... Was it 2008? Bo's first year? Whenever it was, that was a pretty good game against a pretty good Clemson team.

My buddy said that Rob Ryan does it at Dallas and calls it the amoeba defense. Take that for what it's worth. Seemed to work pretty well!

So.... when do we see the Blackshirts handed out?
Now.

I actually really like Urban as an announcer. You get somebody who actually knows what they are talking about in comparison with pretty much every other announcing crew.

Oh I see. You're probably right but you never know. He's been playing WAY better than any of our other options at CB

What do you mean? He didn't?

Oh here it comes, that funny feeling again, getting all wound up over another big Nebraska game. Thankfully, this one is at home rather than on the road. It's amazing to think how from here on out, Nebraska is in "must win" mode, to win the Big 10 Legends division. This brings back memories of Nebraska vs Oklahoma over the years when it was no longer the game that was the day after Thanksgiving. Its like Nebraska vs Colorado, Nebraska vs Kansas State, Nebraska's change to make a statement against a ranked opponent in their division, to show who the dominant program is. This is the type of Husker Lore that we remember from years past where Nebraska laid it all out on the line, sacrificed their bodies on the field, and stood united. The post game in the Husker's locker rooom, after the Largest Come From Behind Win, in Nebraska Football History!!, against Ohio State, still gives me chills.
Amped up Nebraska Football Team, united to withstand anything + Amped Up Cornhusker Fans who live and bleed Scarlet Red = An atmosphere when all the pieces fit together, its one of the most wonderful moments in College Football. I have to say, I am so proud to have been raised on Nebraska Football, where just good enough, doesn't cut it. My Husker Brothers, it is an honor to cheer with you no matter the miles that distance us. Raise your voices into one loud roar!! We are Nebraska Cornhusker Fans, the best fans in the Nation!
I'm pumped too! HUGE game today!

So I'm sittin here watching ESPN Gameday, and they just said that SJB injured his knee on Monday and is unlikely to start. Maybe I'm overreacting, but this is BAD news! We finally find somebody who can play good at corner, and then he tweaks his knee. They said he will play, but still... Ugh!
-
So I know we probably won't get him, but here's a link for his post-game interview after his record-breaking 303-yard 4-TD game:
-
NU - 24
MSU - 21
Rush - 235
Pass - 165

Looks right now like these teams will get BCS bids:
Bama
LSU
Stanford (assuming they either win out or lose only one game to Oregon)
Oregon (if they beat Stanford. If not, could be a stretch...)
B1G champion (Wisconsin, NU, MSU?)
Clemson
Big East Champion (Cincinnati? WV? Who knows...)
Boise State
Okie State
Oklahoma
Looks like we would have to win the B1G to get to a BCS bowl, given the national perception of our conference... We had a chance for Wisconsin to win out the regular season, then if NU or MSU were to have beaten them in the CCG, that would have been potential to override the Big12 for an at-large bid, or possibly Boise...
Needless to say, it's a mess right now, and the only way we can sort it out is to wait for the rest of the season.

You could try calling the bars that you are thinking about going to and ask them when they open on Saturday,....
-
Miami, Ohio State, USC, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU. All these come to my mind as teams that could put a heck of a football team on the field.

Getting back to the old school
It pays to run the football?at least that's what the stats say.
Nebraska currently is averaging 261 rushing yards per game, which is the highest number the Huskers have averaged on the ground since 2002.
Meanwhile the Nebraska offense is currently averaging 37.6 points per game, which is the most NU has averaged since the 90's.
You have to give it to offensive coordinator Tim Beck. His system is not only putting up yards, but it's putting up points and we haven't come close to seeing the Huskers at their best yet. The scary thing you have to ask is how much better can they realistically get?
In a fairly limited game plan NU ranked up 515 yards on 79 plays this past Saturday against Minnesota, after putting up 187 yards on 26 plays against Ohio State in the fourth quarter. That's over 700 yards of offense in five quarters.
Not to mention the yards that we left out on the field with those long pass plays that dropped through the bread basket of our WRs, but then again if the WRs were to have one bad game this year, that was the game I would have chose them to have it.
-
I would have to say that Hightower from Bama wins this award, the dude is awesome! LaVonte is awesome too, but I don't see him beating out Hightower.
-
Kenny fires back with some pretty good comebacks haha. Smart kid!
-
Would be a great get for us, but we are facing some stiff competition on this guy. Hopefully we can make a big impression on him when he visits.
-
Last I heard, these gloves are against NCAA rules, and that's why we haven't seen the team wear them. Correct me if I'm wrong...
-
I think you need an offensive identity to recruit too. For instance if your a running team you may want to recruit more run blockers than pass blockers. If your a power team you might be recruiting FB's. etc
Can the word philosophy and identity be interchanged? My preference for an offensive identity is run based with play action passing. I want 70-30 run/pass ratio.
I don't know what our offensive identity at this point is. I don't think they have one.
I don't think we do either. But for now, that's ok. Beck will continue to play around with it and that's all to the good. I'd just like to see a decision made after this year if possible.
GBR!!
The decision has been made. That was the buzz with the recruits that we hauled in last year. Pelini let them know that we are headed toward a diverse offense much like Oregon's that creates explosive plays by getting speedy guys in space and use of a mobile QB who also fits this mold. I think that our recent recruits show this: Kenny Bell, Jamal Turner, Aaron Green, Braylon Heard, Ameer Abdullah, etc.
So basically, Oregon's offense with more emphasis on power running is where we are trying to get to.
Is there a path to the national title . . .
in Husker Football

NO. And thankfully so. The last thing we need is to undeservedly make it to the national championship and get crushed, sending our team in a downward spiral. (IDK if that would happen if we lost badly, just trying to get my point across). I would rather we earn our way there and be able to compete instead of making it there because nobody else is good enough and then get crushed. I think the true NC game this year will probably be played next weekend.
