    You guys are a-holes!

First quarter against Fresno State. Nebraska trails by a touchdown. Taylor Martinez drops to pass. Interception.

Quincy Enunwa sprints into the picture. He blindsides the Fresno defensive back, knocking the ball free.

Yoshi Hardrick and Andrew Rodriguez dive for the fumble. Rex Burkhead jumps on the ball just before it rolls out of bounds.

    DAT.

The acronym was Tim Beck's creation. It's a motto the offensive coordinator invokes often with players. It reflects his vision for the future.

Yes, the playbook has changed. You didn't see all these toss plays and options under Shawn Watson. But revitalizing Nebraska's offense was never as simple as changing the scheme. If you thought so, you weren't watching closely enough. Beck watched. He saw the offense wreck two promising seasons.

His blueprint for fixing it: "DAT."

Discipline. Attitude. Toughness. You saw it all on the interception return.

    I LOVED this article!!!

Can't wait for this game vs. Wisconsin and can't wait for the years to come! :nanalama

  2. I can't say I blame them. Defenses in the B1G have always been pretty stout, but when you have teams like Penn State almost losing to Temple because their offense is awful, and a team like Iowa that lost to Iowa State, a team that will go 7-5 or worse this year in the Big 12, it doesn't help from a national perspective. It also doesn't help that co-champion Michigan State got absolutely obliterated by Bama in their bowl game last year.

It's time for the B1G to follow the footsteps of Ohio State, Nebraska, and Wisconsin (also soon to be Michigan) and recruit athletes that will make big-time plays on the field. The B1G is the most prestigious conference in the NCAA, but when it comes to football, most everybody is stuck in the 1960s.

  3. I say just let the game do the talking. I hope the Huskers win, but I definitely think that Wisconsin will be tough to beat for my Huskers the way that we are playing so far this season. I hope they turn it on and pull the "upset" but if not, all respect to Wisconsin. If you guys win, I hope you hit the NC game and whoop some SEC a$s

  4. I agree with pretty much everything our badger friend here has said. I think WAY too many posters here aren't giving Wisconsin credit for beating their weak opposition soundly. Nobody else in the B1G has done that. Our speed isn't record breaking. It's not like Nebraska is the fastest team in the country. The UNLV game was game 1. So I pretty much throw that one out the window as far as defensive issues Wisconsin had.

I think we are rightfully the dogs in this one. It should be a good game but I think Wisconsin has shown to be the more complete team. Saturday will show us whether or not that was merely a product of their schedule.

I know that I have voiced my opinion clearly about this weeks match up. But I definetely will not argue that we shouldn't be the underdogs. Wisconsin, while playing an easy schedule, has looked nothing short of stout...while we clearly have shown issues. I am just confident in our players, and most of all, our coaches to get their stuff together. If Nebraska wins, I'll be ecstatic. If Wisconsin wins, I wont be suprised at all. I just expect nothing short of a great game.

Just watching some highlights from last year, T-Mart definitely plays best on the road. He just has such a fire when he plays road games... Watching a few big plays from the Washington game last year, I forgot how loud that stadium was. His first road game as starting QB and he tore it up! Let's see what happens, I'm interested.

Saturday, Oct 1st cannot come soon enough!!!!

  5. How is Ankrah underrated? He has 5 total tackles in 4 games.

I had the same number of tackles against Washington as he did.

Football is about more than just stats. Unlike most people on this board, I think the Dline has done fairly well this year. As The Dude said above, if we clean up our play in the secondary and start blanketing WR's, I think you would be surprised how dominant our Dline is.

  6. Overrated: Martinez

I know he has gotten better at running the offense, but he has minimal cutting ability when he runs, a horendous throwing motion, and subpar pocket presence. Not to mention he puts the ball on the ground wayyyy too much. I still like him and root for him, I just don't see him as a great player like the national media. I think Burkhead has a more legitimate shot at the heisman than Martinez

    Underrated: Jason Ankrah

I really have been impressed with how he has played so far this season. I got pretty used to watching Pierre Allen getting blown off the ball, but this year we have Ankrah holdin down the left side of the line. Love the guy!

  7. I just have a gut feeling we are going to come out flat again. Judging by these tweets, it seems like we could care less to be there, players included

Yep if only they had black uniforms........ :sarcasm

Nah, not till next game. This game, they would blend in too much with the Mr. Hankey outfits that WYO will be wearing :flush

  8. Let's be fair. There have been some absolute A-hole posters professing to be Nebraska fans come on Wyoming boards and stir things up. As I stated before, you go into a man's house screaming, "I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!!!", and then you're shocked went the resident of that house reacts with hostility? And, though I don't think many Nebraska fans will see it, a lot of Nebraska fans come off as arrogant. Then there's the fact of geography. As bordering states, there are countless ties between the Wyoming and Nebraska people. A lot of divided loyalties. So, I suspect the Nebraska part of those loyalties have been a pain in the ass over the years. Now, I hate Texas A&M because I have a cousin who is an aggy [sic] and he's unsufferable about it. So I can understand it.
I agree with most of what you say there. As far as arrogance goes, I honestly feel that in order to be great to you need to be arrogant to an extent. You need to have the mentality that you're going to do what you want and the other team can't stop you, and you need to have the mentality that you're better than the next team. I think you'll be hard-pressed, for example, to find any truly great player that does not have some degree of arrogance. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Chris Johnson, etc., are all arrogant to a degree, but they also sometimes know when to be humbling. It's why I have a tough time blaming an fan base from an AQ school (especially an upper-AQ school) from being arrogant. Nebraska hasn't done enough in the last 10 years to be overtly arrogant, but given our history, can anybody really blame us?

This post is why people hate Nebraska fans.

Are some NU fans arrogant? yes. Just like a small minority of fans of any sports team, college or pro. You want arrogant fans? Look at Texas. I attended a CWS game a couple years ago when Texas won, and I was so annoyed with Longhorn arrogance, I couldn't stand it... I would say Nebraska fans have a pretty undeserved rep in this sense. I think a more appropriate description of Husker fans is proud.

  9. Looks like most of the 'experts' are thinking Wyoming is going to score some points on the D.

I would be ecstatic if the return of Dennard sparked a defensive dominance in this game. I would guess they will try to pick on Ciante/Mitchell often in this game. Hopefully they rise to the challenge. I like what I've seen out of the undersized Josh Mitchell so far.

  10. IMO, Compton and Fischer are just getting in the way of David, but that's another conversation.

I think Compton is a pretty good player, but I have been unimpressed with Fisher his entire career. He's really done nothing noticeably positive so far. However, I was at the season opener and Trevor Roach looked really good! I'd like to see more of what he can do.

  11. Here's what I have thought of that I've really not heard anyone else say:

From the superconferences, whether it be 4 or 8 (it will be 4 if it happens), you take the champion team from each superconference and do a 2-round playoff. Everybody else that doesn't make the playoff, including teams that are not part of a superconference, goes to one of the existing bowl games. This does a lot of things that I think everyone can agree on:

-It keeps the bowl system in place while establishing the much-needed playoff.

-While there is a playoff, it does not take value away from the regular season since there are only 4 teams in it.

-It still keeps Boise State-like teams out of the national title contention (provided they don't find a home in one of the superconferences) since they play high school teams in their schedules

-The formatting of the 16-team conference would be desirable, as they would be split into 4-team pods. Each team would play the other 3 teams in their own pod, all 4 teams from another pod, and 2 teams from the last pod. This would allow for a rotation and easily being able to play everyone in your conference within a 2 or 3 year period.

My theory keeps the bowl system in place and reestablishes the New Years Day games that have been so special in the past and each one of them has meaning.

The regular season has value because if you don't win your division you don't get to the conference championship.

Why would you want to keep Boise State like teams out? I guess if you are one of the big boys who Boise State has beaten (ie Oklahoma) you might be in favor of this but thejn you need to change your colors to to Chicken $h-t yellow and brown and your cheer leaders need to learn the cluck - cluck - cluck chant and the chicken dance.

    T_O_B

    G>B>R

My reason for leaving Boise State-like teams out is because they play horrible schedules. However, with Boise obviously having success against powerful schools each year, I guess people will cry if they are left out. So to compensate for that, I say if there is a non-BCS or non-superconference team that is undefeated, then they would play the lowest-rated conference champion in a bunny bracket one week before the playoff officially starts. This would essentially be a 4-team playoff system with the option for a 5th and possibly 6th team.
