  1. I boo'd and left early. 2 first for me

I didn't boo, but I did sit there for most of the second half in shock watching UCLA players dance like they were at a night club.

Yeah, does anyone know what was with the dancing before all of their kickoffs? It was definitely more pronounced when they were up, but they were doing it all game long, even when they were down. Really strange

  2. I was in the 7th row right behind the north goalposts and I was surrounded by bluehairs, but during the first half, they were all standing and screaming their aged little hearts out. The place was loud. Then the 3rd quarter rolled around and they all, understandably, shut up and sat down. My buddy and I, however, kept standing and yelling like crazy, trying to get some energy in everyone around us and, by extension, the team. That is, until the lady behind us, grabbed both of our shirts, pulled us down, and angrily told us that we had to sit down. I mean, it would be one thing if she would've asked us to please sit down, but the way she did it just royally pissed me off, especially considering the way things were going in the game.

  3. Things I learned after reading this thread:

    1. We have too many armchair QB's that think they know what is best for Husker football when they're not directly involved with it
    2. Our defense is young...but when you have a humbling experience like this, you learn
    3. Imani Cross averaged 8.1 yards per carry and everyone thought I was crazy for saying he deserved the #2 spot touting the freshmen instead. Eat crow you bizzles.
    4. Bo Pelini isn't stupid...he knows what needs to be fixed...he's known for 3 years now. The kids aren't getting it. He has to figure out why they're not.
    5. Tim Beck is still learning because some of his play calling was atrocious
    6. Our pass defense SUCKED but had a few good plays.
    7. Our linebackers sucked and are the reason we got torched on the ground...the line only had 4 people on it with our best guys getting double teamed...backers need to plug those holes and they were nonexistent.
    8. We need to teach people to FINISH...on both sides of the ball. I saw people loafing on plays left and right both on offense and defense. That crap is unacceptable in high school football let alone college.
    9. I know Bo Pelini gets it because he's coached defenses that have ranked in the top 5 in the nation numerous times (including here)...He needs to find out how to get his kids to execute on the field.
    10. Those refs sucked bigtime
    11. There's not much difference between a 250 lb lineman and a 300 lb one...Wyoming's offense proved that
    12. The defense can be fixed...but it will take a team effort and a major effort on the coaches

It honestly wasn't as bad as many are making it out to be. The DBs weren't terribly out of position most of the night; Smith was just putting the ball exactly where it needed to be. The best DBs in the world can't defend that kind of accuracy, especially when he's scrambling out of the pocket. I'm not saying they played great, but based on positioning alone (and not results), they looked much better then in the past.

For what it's worth, I played Safety in college (though it was admittedly only D3), so I do know a bit about coverage.

  4. Anybody else think that fumble happened because the refs refused to call the play dead? It was darn close, but it looked like Martinez had just enough for the first, got stuck up and just kept pushing (as he should). At this point the refs should blow it dead... but they didn't. A QB sneak like that, where the QB is reaching for the 1st, is a play that's asking to get the ball stolen. Waiting to blow it dead just makes it 10 times more likely.

  5. I'm probably rehashing what the sunshine pumpers are saying, but this game isn't the end of the world. We fielded a young defense against an extremely difficult style offense to defend. Yes, we only won by 3, and that leaves a dirty taste in my mouth, but we were up a lot bigger and rolling before we got laxidasical and Wyoming made a run. That alone is probably responsible for 150 of their yards. The Linebackers concern me. They were non existant tonight, but the D-line was either getting held or making a push, which is much more then we can say for last year. The secondary, for the most part, wasn't out of position. Smith was just putting the ball in exactly the right place all night. We were forcing him out of the pocket and making him pass on the run and his accuracy was great. He was simply putting the ball in the perfect place. There's not much we can do about that, and I doubt many QBs we face this year can replicate it. Yes, there's a lot of work to be done, but (at least at this point), I'm not terribly concerned. The most improvement comes between games 1 and 2, and with this young of a D, we should see a lot (key word being should)

  6. If this doesnt make the sports center top ten it will be a damn shame! Things like this cant get enough press!

It took #1 in the SC top 10.

dvr set. Thanks for the find. That's nice. Thank You ESPN. Seriously.

Tomorrow when the Best of the Best vote goes up, let's all help Jack to take down Jadeveon Clowney!
