  1. Anyone who beats the Steelers or Cowboys. Except when they play each other. Then I just hope everyone that goes to the game gets an infection of some sort for enabling something so heinous...

I will be a Nebrasketball fan once I am able to publicly admit they actually have a men's basketball team. Unfortunately I live in Jayhawk country and am not about to open that can of worms yet. So, any news on the awesome new Nebraska sponsored "roller skating rink" in Lincoln? Hearing lots of good things!

HOWEVER, my loyalty is fickle because I have reserved a special place in my heart for the first team that blames any form of God for a loss purely for comedic value. Any team, any sport, doesn't matter. NBA team, fine. Junior high wiffleball all-stars, even better. Doubt it will ever happen but a guy can dream.

  2. Where did the whole "This school sucks, who do we steal?" thing start? I'm assuming somebody was serious about this at one point.

Random joke that has been going for a while. Any time something negative happens with any team they will end up in a thread like this.

  3. Maybe I'm crazy but it seems like some are overreacting here. Possibly cancelling games is absurd!

While horrible things happened, and I am in no way trying to undermine the atrocities that have been committed, why would any of the focus be on the football TEAM itself? Nothing done was an NCAA violation (assuming no ethical rules exist for loopholes) and that is all that matters on this. If PSU wanted to fire everyone involved, fine. If everyone involved was arrested and charged with a crime, fine.

It's like a fry cook getting a DUI and getting locked up(arbitrary example, NOT a direct comparison regarding severity). McDonalds is not going to stop making fries because the fry cook and is in jail because people are smart enough to differentiate the two. While people may not want to eat their fries after the incident it should have no bearing on those that are willing to stick it out and have kept their noses clean.

College football is a year-round effort of blood, sweat, and tears. To take that all away at this point is just cruel. The players have earned the right to finish.

It is also very likely that this Saturday was supposed to be their Senior Day, since it's their last home game of the year. If they play, who takes these kids out on the field, shakes their hand, hugs them, and thanks them for their honest contributions to the team?

And for the players moving forward, how do they ever trust another coach? Do they all get penalty-free transfers? Are they forced to stay at PSU? This is an ugly situation and really just a no-win scenario for everybody. I hope they don't forfeit the game over, but I would understand if they did.

NCAA says that any coaching changes (for any reason) or cancellation of a sport allows the students a penalty-free transfer. Any other reason for transfer is up to the school's discretion. I believe those are the only two obligatory ways out penalty free besides graduation (read Russel Wilson) and even that is enforced at the conference level.

Is this a recent thing? When Ryan Mallett transferred from Michigan to Arkansas he actually fought to not have to sit out and still had to.

It has existed for a while now but it is enforced at the conference level and every one seems to interpret it differently. I believe the intent is to keep coaches from poaching athletes so most have a clause explicitly stating that in-conference transfers have to sit out. The SEC is rougher than most where I believe they make everyone sit out a year. I could be wrong but that is my understanding.

  6. Welcome aboard, can already tell that spartan fans are classy ones

    :thumbs

Strange, they never called us classy, isn't that right Badger_HB :ahhhhhhhh

Seems like not pointing that out would have be the classy thing to do...

Which would, in a roundabout way, make you very unclassy, amiright?

Indeed we are the epitome of arrogance and lack of class

Well you had class at some point. Then you beat NU and were forever doomed to the mythical "classless fan base" until we even the score. Or you beat Iowa. I understand that trouncing Iowa is the B1G version of a get out of jail free card. Once you use it we can all be friends again. :wasted

  7. has anybody noticed that every fanbase that has come on here has demonstrated a pretty damn polite attitude? That is a far cry from when we had all those missouri, kansas, kstate trolls come on here to rile everybody up. kinda nice.

I have two reasons to not like Nebraka. One is MSU's fault (ugh, 0-5 against you and none of the games have been close) and the other is Nebraska's fault (voted out of the AAU.. come on guys, you have to get back in that as a Big Ten school).

But otherwise I am happy to have Nebraska aboard. Your fans are very nice and knowledgeable, and I hope we can have some competitive games now that MSU has awoken from decades of slumbering.

the AAU card? We'd been in it for decades right? Didn't even know it existed until recently. Not exactly something I'll lose sleep over.

(and i'd bet that good ol' nebraska pride will keep us from ever joining again)

The AAU thing isn't that big a deal. It is based on the amount of research(read money) being invested at a school. Unfortunately, they changed the rules a few years back so they no longer count agricultural research in the equation. No idea why. So we didn't get any worse, they just changed the rules and are now ignoring quite a bit of the work going on at NU.

  8. We always hear how nice we are to other fan bases. This is is about how well we treat our own.

To the outstanding people it may concern,

If you were one of the people posting driving directions from Kansas City, Thank You.

If you were one of the tailgating groups that randomly stopped my girlfriend and I, then shared untold homemade deliciousness, Thank You.

If you were the guys with tickets in the 97th row and still grinned like idiots about being able to get seats, Thank you.

If you were the girls that played Cornhole with us (yep, that sounds really, really bad...), Thank You.

If you were the older couple to our right that helped my girlfriend with the words to the fight song while I was in the bathroom, Thank You.

If you were the (oh so slightly)portly gentlemen to our left that shared an extra poncho (we forgot to pack ours...), Thank You.

If you were one of the older people near me literally yelling at everyone to stand up and support the team, Thank You.

If you were the one who called out the woman for badmouthing the team during the second quarter, Thank You.

If you were in the student section singing/showing that Wisconsin is not the only fun game day atmosphere, Thank You.

If you were one of the people we saw downtown congratulating Ohio fans on a good game later that night while not being sarcastic, Thank You.

Finally, if you are one of the 85,000+ that helped me show my girlfriend(her first game!) what the Husker home game experience really is and why I cherish it, THANK YOU!

    Sincerely,

A confirmed Husker fan for life.

  9. I've got two tickets I am willing to part with. Between work and Grad school I am just busier than I thought I would be. Stupid Grad School...

Section 1 row 13. Don't remember the exact seat numbers at the moment.

I'm asking at least 500 for the pair. I won't let them go for less than that and doubt anybody really cares why. Heck, it might be worth it for an autograph session at Recruit-a-palooza 2011!

And, because it seems to be mandatory, First Post. (yay first post!)
